Was wondering if anyone knew what would win if a FTO GPX raced a holden commodore ute! standard ute say a 2000 model? Or a Ford ute?

Have driven both a manual GPX and a manual S Pack Common Ute........Was wondering if anyone knew what would win if a FTO GPX raced a holden commodore ute! standard ute say a 2000 model? Or a Ford ute?"
In a straight line from a standing start the FTO has no hope.

But how many good roads are straight?

Cheers

Ute
Is the S Pack a V6 or a V8?. If it is a six, I disagree. In a straight line from a standing start the FTO has no hope.
I have had some fun with a late model Holden ute approaching the Clide on the way to Batemans Bay. Youll loose them on corners. On relatively straight roads, they wont catch you, but neither will you loose them.
I have a tip with a few minor intake mods.
If its a V8 forget it.

thats cos they probably aren't taking u seriously and giving it half throttle...dunno why we keep insisting on working out which car we will beat etc...if u wanted a fast car for 15k but an R33 and be done with it...with mine I can easily beat them all! hehe but not in my FTO...7s FWD is no match for a 6s rwd car..unless its wet
For everyone here is some numbers!!! heheh
VT Aclaim - 0-100 km/h in 9.8s << FTO
VS Aclaim - 0-100 km/h in ~9s << FTO
Now for the V8s
VX SS - 0-100 - 6.5 ==FTO with some mods
VY SS - 0-100 - 5.9 >> FTO for sure
VZ SS - 0-100 - 5.8 >> FTO for sure
BA XR8 - 6.4s
BA XR6 turbo ~ 6.4s also
BA XR6 non-turbo - 7.4s!!
Remember these figures were collected from diffreent sources but its fairly obvious an FTO is "up-there" on paper. You can't expect to be beating a full sik V8 SS..looks like the older ones we might though!!
ALso Holden has a bad rep for producing crap figures latley...so they might be a little worse than this.
But for a stock commie/falcon...give it a go...looks like u will win!!! as long as u can get FTO up in the revs u have no dramas.

Mines a gr with filter, extractors and exhaust. It couldn't pull the skin off a chicken. Looks good, and keeps my license in my wallet. What more could you want?
Every once in a while i threaten to sell it because it is so bloody slow but 5k down the road and i'm content again.

theres the problem every Ford Falcon sold today comes with 190KW and almost 400NM of torque at least!

There is also i problem for me! The FTO is a peaky engine so i have to wait for 6000-7000rpm before im getting decent power from the thing! By this time the aussie cars are already ahead! I dunno if i have a dud or not but i sort of expect it as these cars have double the capacity of my car.

I agree. I often travel on the toll roads in sydney and you have to slow to from 110kmph to 70 then once past the toll point you can gun it back up to 110 again, I never have a problem holding off the big fords and holdens thenkhunjeng wrote:all taken into consideration over a 0-100 drag....u probably wont win off the line..but up to 70-80 u will be looking nice...then off u go!

No.. I have a Manual GR and the peak for me is 6600 (correct me if I'm wrong here), the boost from the V6 kicks in at around 3500-4000rpm and I wait till 6600 approx to put it into 2nd gear.SchumieFan wrote:peak is at 4400rpm isnt it? and then you have mivec
That's when im flooring it that is
