evo's are fast, I remember seeing it on TopGear, that evo 8 vs the galardo, I think I read somewhere that the evo IX does 0 - 100 in 4.5 seconds, I think it was in a MOTOR magazine.

on paper mitsubishi say evos go from 0-100km in 6.2s
but in real life with MANY MANY drag strip timing a stock evo8/9
all do low 5s like 5.2 or 5.4s MAX
dont think stock evos can do 4.2 unless its like the FQ400 which can do 3 something

the EVOs are fast but mistu dont allow a full redline dump of clutch when stationary. The basic computer reprog will alow this, thats when it comes to its own!

The EVO might come close to a Ferrari but this is only because the Evo is 4WD. Not many RWD cars can match a 4WD off the line! I reckon by 60-70 the Ferrari will be passing the EVO with great pace!

speaking about evo's yesterday I was just driving behind an evo 8, first I thought it was just a normal lancer with a evo bodykit, but it was real, It is rare to see one where i live.

actually stock evos have a launch limiter at 5.5k
when we (evolutionOZ memebers) did the test everyone had the limiter!
it is optimum because if u launch at anything after 5.5k there will jsut be crazy wheel spin
no point.
but geez evo are so boring
when i had my fto when mivec kicked in it sounds awesome
but on evo...engine so bloody quiet, only thing that is sex is when the turbo spools
even mivec on evo9 sounds *~delightful!~*
nothing compared to the fto

i thought the limiter was to save the transmission? I cant see that much wheel spin even at full rpm launch!

They test GTRs and WRX which launch better at maximum rpm.

True that. I drove an EVO 4 when they were new. I was at the lights with a car in front of me on a two lane road. The lights changed and I wanted to gun it but he was being really slow. He finally pulled into the left hand lane and I floored the EVO. Then, "duh duh duh duh" and it's not going any quicker :? sh*t 8O change gear! Before you have time to think you are flying through the gears.

A few weeks ago on 5th gear, VBH Image
(oomph!) put the EVO IX against the EVO VI. The evo VI was about half a second quicker around the track.

current motor magazine has a test drive of the new evo X in evo VIII guise.... says its going to be amazing..

but anyways evo X will be amazing...just like ANY OTHER EVOs
they quick and turns hard without screeching tyres :twisted:
especially flying through a roundabout hehe 8)

That wasn't a normal EVO.

That was an EVO FQ series.....veerrrryy different.

I know the EVO VIII on top gear was like 450BHP, but I'm not sure about the one in the MOTOR magazine, I think it was in MOTOR May 2005 edition.

well.... the FQ400 does 0-100km in 3.5s
now recently...they release the FQ500 which has 500HP
so...i wonder how fast it does 0-100km 8)
o wellz...my stock 8 still does 0-100km in 4.6/4.8s so still good hehe

A stock evo 8 does a min of 5 seconds 0-100.

Most people can't get that close once or twice due to the skill of doing that.

most important for an evo is to get the perfect launch
once it happens it flys through the gears

Its not just quick getting to 0 - 100 but also its got like a bag of tricks going around the corner, its got that Active Yaw which is pretty much a computerized diff.

i think most of the evos cornering capability comes in after its lost grip in some way or another, though

the ACD and AYC
its jsut amazing
before with my fto when i turn a hard right the wheels screech like they are gona blow
but on evo
theres NO NOISE what SO EVER
and revs climb so quickly on corner exit
i'll give u guys a ride in the next cruise! 8)
