CAI Guide

Post by dstocks »

OK, for those interested, ive put together a guide for duplicating the CAI I recently made:

http://www.completefto.com.au/FTO_showcontent.asp?aid=377

Beware, this ones a monster. Took me ages to put together.

Would appreciate any feedback on this as im not at all sure if it will be easy enough to follow. Any feedback relating to how I change it to make more sense (if needed) would be appreciated

U like your CAI...but (although I admit I didn't read it in depth) I can ran from the front bar striaght up into the boxed area. Mine has less bends and is shorter...feeds straight of the front bar...I have mine connected straight into the box over my pod...I just assume that a short and straight path is best.

        Air Box

        Post by dstocks »

Yep, a pod is much easier to build a pipe for as there is so much more room underneath it. Unfortunately the ARC box fills all that area and the only place to put the pipe is about where I did as the air needs to go underneath it.

        Post up some pics......

Or have you already done that in another post somewhere?

did you take your front bumper off to run the pipe up? or were you able to fit it without taking the bumper off?

yeah...its easy what i did and took me 5mins. I could use a better quality pipe...but heaps of air gets in so I think its good enough...

          Here are some crappy pics...

          Original Pipe

          Post by dstocks »

Ahhhh, youre using the hole for the original pipe. I havent done that one yet. That mostly misses the airbox in my setup. Stay tuned though, because im going to re-route that one too. Ill chuck up an addition to my guide when I do it. It will feed from the top grill.

Does that mean ill have dual CAI???

            hi mate

this is not the origional hole...the origional one is still in place doing its thing. This pipe fits from the front bar up past the radiator into the CAI area...have a look and you will see how it easily fits.

            I apologise

            Post by dstocks »

Sorry, can see it now  . Im having a shocker today - I think I can see my brain dribbling out my ear. This is coming up in the same place that mine does. The unfocussed bit is the aircon pipe. Do you have a plate of some kind underneath your pod. I would have though I should have been able to see the transmission in that photo, but I cant. Thats what threw me.

no worries...I couldn't work out why u didn't get it as it was essentially the same as yours :P

I have a box which covers the base thats why u can't see anything else...I found that the pipe sits in their easily without any need for brackets etc...its basically just sitting there !

              Pod

              Post by dstocks »

All makes sense now. Have you thought about putting an elbow on the standard duct where it passes the edge of the top grill and feeding air in from there as well. Thats my next plan.
