TPS adjustment

Post by payaya »

Hey all,

I bought a new TPS as the other one was screwed, i turn the new tps all the way clockwise then hook up the ohmmetre to pins one and three slowly turn the TPS counter clockwise untill there is not reading. Well i cant get one in line with the screw holes!!!

What am i doing wrong?

Erm, it's wire one and two which are the actual switch of the TPS, hence you should be checking over those. One and three give you the output voltage which you use to check the function of the TPS. You also need to put a 0.65mm feeler gauge between the throttle screw at the back of the throttle body to hold the butterfly slightly open.

Could it be the harness that is causing the probs? Have you checked for any broken wires, etc?

use a multimeter, the best way to check the wires between the TPS and ECU.

you got to find the wire that goes to the TPS in the harness that connects to the ECU, then you get your multimeter and hook it up to the wire from the TPS and the one one from the ECU, and with the multimeter you should be able to see if the wire is broke or not.

It might be better to get someone to explain this, because I not good at explaining things.
