Please help recommend a mechanic for 100k service in Melb?

Post by Agent007 »

Hi guys,

I'm up for my 100k service. I had so many bad experiences with different mechanics overcharging and doing a crap job so I just wanted to know if anyone here would recommend a good mechanic and reasonably priced? I live in the south eastern suburbs. [/i]

I think Lee will be your best bet if you are in the S.E.

As long as you don't mind him doing it in his front yard

He is in Springvale (unless he has moved).

He did my 100k service, adjusted my tappets and replaced my automatic transmission fluid for $1050 last year (I supplied the timing belt though).

He has done a lot of work for us Vic drivers... so much so that he says he is getting sick of FTOs :P

Damm $1050 is a lot for someone who does it in there front yard.. hmm does he have a workshop? Why is it so expensive though? i had qoutes for $600, $700 but dont know if they're any good. I think I might have to give Lee a call unless someone else knows a cheaper place. Thanks supplanter. By the way where did you get the timing belt from?

well mitsubishi were going to charge me $400.00 labour + parts and oil. Still that would of put me under $1050.00.

revzone in nunawading is also good.

$1000 for a major service is very reasonable!

100km is one of the most important, all your belts, spark plugs, some people get water pump changed then, generally things like brake pads or discs need a look at.....

to give some perspective, I was charged $2000 for mine, and I know a few that have paid this. Yes i was ripped off but I would think anything under a grand is cheap. Its a pretty big job.

Lee used to own a workshop but he sold it. He is between workshops at the moment :P

I bought the timing belt from Repco: Gates, part number t987 $95 (it is an OEM one, not a Mitsubishi one).
