What to look for in an FTO (when purchasing one)?

Post by yaggy »

Hi,

I'm in the market for an FTO at the moment (I live in Melbourne) , and basically looking for an Auto/Tiptr, preferably GPX, etc.

I was just wondering what I should look for in an FTO when inspecting them? Also if any of you guys in Melbourne have something for sale, please don't hesitate to contact me at xcaleee@hotmail.com (MSN).

I've already talked to Billy about his car, and its nearly exactly what I'm looking for, except I don't want to rush into things too much at the moment, so I'm waiting to see what other offers pop up too :)

Thanks guys! and appreciate the help :P

Can't tell really tell, as i've seen some really shocking one lately. They are Good from far, but far from good

Ask the person where does he take it for service & does he keep all the receipt or better yet a log book. Normally I could go & check it out for you, as thats what i've done in the past for any newbie from VIC, but looks like i'll be flat out till at least June. :?

I'm not an expert but I know what a good one should drive and sound like...look att he paint...engine/wheels/tyres/suspension...drive behind to see if there is any smoke...rattles etc..compression test is a must...for figures there is a nother post I had recently about the desired results.

once you have had a look urself we can go have a second look.

Yup checked it out yesterday, everything's good with the car, the car is always garaged, serviced, very clean inside and out with VERY miniscle dents from people who have opened their car doors into it's side haha.

Anyways, yeah we're not going to jump too fast into it, cos a better offer may pop up, we're thinking of offering him around $11k and see if he will take that.

yeah, if any of you guys know anyone who's interested in selling their FTO , model doesnt bother me TOO much, and auto/tiptr is a must - please tell me.. I'd rather buy from someone trusted here, then on carsales.com.au or something =)

Price im willing to pay is around the $10-12k mark, pending on what the car is.. possibly more if the car is outstanding of course ;)

BTW, what do the rust bubbles on the roofs of the 94-95 models indicate? Is it just particularly prone to those year's models?
