Replacing the roof lining

I am just about to undertake this rather large job. It all seems ok except for the welding of the subframe at the end. Has anyone actually done this? Was it hard? And who would you suggest for the welding job if it is?

If so, im guessing you have a sunroof, is this correct?. Assuming this is right, here's a partial answer to your question. I actually got a panel beater to do the work (as the roof needed a respray anyway), but if youre handy with a mig welder, it wouldnt be too hard. You just have to line it up right (make sure you protect your interior though). The holes in the front of the subframe on my car were harder to drill out than the sides - the sides had small indentations where the spot welds were, but the front didnt. You can however feel the spots from the behind. The back of the subframe isnt spot welded in.

As to who to go to to get it done, im sure someone can point you in the right direction, but well have to know where you are.

If im completely on the wrong track, I think we need a little more info.

my car does not have a sunroof but yes I am referring to the guide in complete fto. I am not very experienced on the welding side of things, so I will probably leave it in the hands of a professional. Welcome for any suggestions in Sydney

No sunroof makes it a lot easier. The only welding that would need to be done is holes in the roof (from the rust) if there are any. Youll probably find that there arent. You should be able to clean everything up underneath the roof yourself if you follow the guide:

- Remove the lining
- Remove the glue
- Clean Up Rust
- Neutralise Rust
- Deliver to Panel Beater to do the rest
