Post by khunjeng »

Same as Kev, when she drops down to 750rpm I go. Usualy 5 mins or so, but I wait a good 20 mins before flogging it

It really wont hit proper operating temp for a good 15-20 mins of driving - the water temp (gauge) will come up quickly, but your oil temp takes a lot longer, gearbox oil temp even longer again.

damn wife takes about 5-10min to blow-dry her hair before work so I use this as my timer!! :P

ehehehe but when your engine starts to go, you won't even have a bank balance then, heheeh i doubt that it be using more then $1 of petrol when warming up the car. Ohh & i live 5mins from work too...heheehehe

I try to give it a good warm up, but when i leave for work at 5am and have only got 30min to get to port melb, i must admit I dont always let it warm up as long as id like to!

definately dont rev it hard until ive been driving a while.

Generally I wait five or so minutes before she is driven. I used to wait until she was REALLY warm until pushing it but never got to enjoy the car and went weeks without MIVEC because the trips were too short.

Would be good to have a remote start, I would let it warm up longer if I didnt have to go outside!

Hmmmmmmm...........has this thread got anything to do with that rev limiter spelunking sound during MIVEC when the engine isn't warmed up properly?

what i do is i remote start my car from my apartment before i go down to my car, then wait for it to warm up to the normal driving temp then go off, mine warm up pretty fast ... less then 5 minute

MIVEC is a pain in the ass if your car is cold, it won't let you use MIVEC at all, sounds like fuel cut sound?

yes remote start my engine, was told it's illegal now to fit on my car due to manual gearbox but blahhh what ta hell so i fit it anyway. JUST REMEMBER TO PUT ON NETURAL OR YOU CAN IMAGINE WHAT WILL HAPPEN! 8O

I have turbo timer for my car too thought i don't have a turbo, looks cool anyway, but i don't see why you can't do it for auto?

Turbo timer got nothing to do with auto or manual. Like its name, its about TURBO. Well techically its about saving your engine if you got a turbo.
