What don't you like about your FTO

Post by jetlee »

Ok Guys, we all know that there is 1000 and 1 kickass things about our FTO's but does anyone have any complaints/issues/dissapiontment with their ride.
For example: how dim the internal lights are inside the car and their position, or that there are no handles above the doors (not in mine anyway).

An example of what i dont mean is: My tip box shat itself because i drop to first gear at 130km's and do roll backs all day long.

Just wanna see what you guys think
The carpet in the boot is also something that sh*ts me, it slides around on top of the space saver lid. (i ended up using double sided tape on it anyway)

the way it screams drive me harder, faster,faster....
No handles above the door is a good one, and the way the aircon has a mind of its own when you just wanna change it but it wont let you...
The worst thing would have to be the fact all the Honda's are scared to drag though... they dont do that when I'm in the 626

yeah. FTO's blindspots are the worst i've ever experienced.
There is plenty of room in the back seat if you're a baby midget

biggest problem: front wheel drive. Traction is a problem, and it isnt as much fun as a rear wheel spinner.

others:
yeah blindspot, interior light not bright enough,
about it design wise.

But show me another good looking 2 door car with a small capacity v6, variable valve timing, 8000rpm redline, good handling and ride and under $30k. There aint many!!!

Umm doesn't give u the rush like a type r...

That said, ti's still a nice ride.. :)

May mate used to have a type R.........until he flipped it. I reckon they may go a little faster than the FTO but don't handle as good.

doesnt sound like many people have driven a current model celica.

that has blind spots!!! the seats are that high you cant see past 180 degrees.

the std spoiler cuts everything 5-10mts behind you out of the picture - makes it worth while switching to the TRD spoiler.

the back window is to small and makes everything look like a small picture frame. FTO has MUCH better rear window vision. Type R spoiler is a little high to, but not as bad location as a celicas.

I also think the side doors are higher than the ftos.

(pitty fto isnt as funky inside as a celica, but ya cant have it all)

got a funny feeling that the supra aint any better either

I don't think there just ain't enough performance parts available, especially when compared to other imports. Give me options, give me more power!

Yeah the blindspot is shocking. Was checking it the other day while driving and in the end decided the best thing to do is to stick my head out the window!

And rear legroom ain't too bad. I managed to get 4 people in the car the other week but it was a bit cramped. Looked like a grandma being that close to the steering wheel.

i had 4 passengers in my car too few months ago and i had to sit very close to the steering wheel... other than looking silly (being nearly 6ft in height) it's also a bitch to drive, esp since my car is manual coz it's not easy to use the clutch when your legs are already bent at 90degrees!

since then - NEVER AGAIN!

...oh yeah, and the tappets on the GPX should be self-adjusted like the GR!

Yes I have to agree on the blind spot issue. I have never had a car with a blind spot as bad as the fto. But I guess you get used to it.

I also had my car loaded with 4 people the other day, driving that close to the steering wheel made was wierd. Anyway, Im gonna treat my ride as a 3 seater now. NO ONE SITS BEHIND ME

I definately do agree with the blind spots...
But then if you read the reviews for the FTOs, the car is design for looks, and that's why the car looks stunning on the outside...so the ergonomics of the car is pretty shocking...
I have 4 ppl sitting in my car every now and then, and I don't have a problem at all...I used to when I used to drive with me seat all the way back leaning backwards...Had no idea I was doing that until my dad pointed out that my back will be bent for the rest of my life if I kept that up...after that I drive with my seat up right and I have no problem having 4 ppl in the car.

Maybe the driving light is too dimm.....not bright enough...
Other then that, I think the car's interior looks quite good for a sports car.

Maybe we are expecting too much from out cars cause we like them so much??? Maybe???
I mean after all it is not that an expensive car....besides, look at cars like elise and ferraris....their interior is shocking!!! Nothing in it....
Get what I mean?

i totally disagree with the blind spot theory.

i have my mirrors setup efficiently and never have trouble with blind spot.

my setup is a bit unorthodox, coz i notice people totally change it when they drive my car, but for me it works.

Yeah you definately need to use your mirrors. But I was used to turning my head to check my blind spots but you can't do this on the FTO because of that big-ass B-pillar and small tiny rear window - if you can call that. It's not bad, something you get used to.

Another qualm I have is the paint work and metal panels of the FTO. Too fragile for my liking.

the blindspot on on the driver's RHS is ok, but it's a pain in the arse on the driver's LHS esp when backing out of parking lots or angled parking coz you can't see sh*t with that thick pillar in the way... :?

blindspots???

Post by elmo »

If your always going faster than everyone else, the mirrors work fine, just check if you have room as you change lanes again
