I need you advice guys...
I used to have a great FTO. Some might remember it. Anyway, I sold it and I am thinking about getting another one. I am only interested in good ones though. I have had a look on carsales and there isn't much around at the momoent. Not like when I bought mine!
Mine was a manual but the majority for sale are tiptronics. Are the auto's that bad? My manual always had a bit of trouble finding reverse and it used to PISS ME OFF. I was told it was just air in the line and I had it bled but it was always still there. Are the autos obviously more gutless? Any advice would be great.
I may be back!!!

One of the ACT guys (Boris or Bucket can't remember which) got his changed from tip to man and says it's the best thing he ever did.
I have a tip (GPX) and do find it slow off the line compared to a manual and when you change up it drops too many revs for my liking. I've only driven a GR manual and that felt good and smooth (It was Bennoz's and has some work done to it). I would like a manual but most of the time I love the tip, especially when stuck in Sydney traffic, I can just flick it into D and don't worry.
It's personal choice I guess. What are you going to use it for? For dragging, get a manual, for track, I'd go the tip.

i drive a manual, and have no problems changing into reverse.
however, sometimes i do find it a bit hard to change it into first gear (2nd to first), when the car is rolling...
ie) in heavy traffic.
but then again, 1st gear is rly only for take off ...
expanding on that... during heavy traffic, sometimes i wish i had a tip... the constant use of the clutch, gears, brakes get a bit too much at times, especially when your stuck in traffic for an hr or so!!!
...i wouldnt say tips are gutless... afterall, it depends on the mods u have right?
edit: and how u drive ^^

Bucket did the conversion from tip to manual. Im looking at the same thing down the track a little. I dont like the lag you get with the tip.

my advice and you will thank me later
. If you want any kind of performance dont even look sideways at a tiptronic. I know you can make em go fast etc but realli the difference between tip and manual is amazing I have test drove both manual and tip GPX's and GR's and the tiptronic's are not quick at all. But horse's for course's. I do live in the country.

It was bucket who got the conversion done... and he will not stop going on about it. Seriously, everytime I come home there's like a hundred thousand messenger windows up from him saying how good the manual is
Well, not quite, but it's good none-the-less.
If you have the choice, go the manual... but... if you find a brilliant FTO in perfect condition that is everything you want in an FTO don't let the transmission be the deciding factor; afterall, tip is tip... not like you don't have anything to play with while driving!

Your choice really. If you want an auto, or you don't care, then just find the overall best car.
But, if you want a manual, get a manual.
I would not buy an auto (Tip is just a fancy word for auto), but that is my preference. If I lived in Sydney/Melbourne, and had to deal with that traffic daily, then I would look differently at an auto though.
Up to you really!

Corolla compare to FTO, i'm sure you love doing corners right Scott?

The difference between what we do and what we are capable of doing would suffice to solve most of the world's problem.

Edit: However at the moment I really am f**king fed up with the sh*t my car is pulling on me.I've already started looking at other cars.
