Alright just found new employment which requires me to have the car up and running sooner than expected.Looks like a boring 6a12 mivec is goin in. bugger. Anyone have a tutorial or something on how to do a plain swap? just so the mechanic can give me a more accurate quote.

How's everything going anyway Sam?

I'm still working on getting this engine out but I been really slack lately coz we're just getting hammered at work. Not sure what state you're in but if you're in VIC then there's a guy here named Lee who can remove the engine for about $300. Not sure how much to put it back in though........

But that price is a bargain if you ask me!

How much research did you end up doing with the 4G63 and drivetrain conversion?

Sounds about right. I most help I've had is from guys on this site which is excellent. In practice though at a workshop, noone is really all that helpful until you bring the car in and cough up $20k so they can turn around and tell you it doesn't work!

I spoke to the MMC in NZ and they were really helpful as well actually. I wish I knew if there are any performance workshop guys which are member on this forum. The only guy I know who works in a performance workshop who used to drive an FTO is Arnold from Hypertech. I've spoken to him a lot but he seems very reluctant to touch any of the things I wanna do.

thats cos u r dodgy!!!! I mean i've seen u and I think so...:P

if its engine stuff u want...I know Craig at RevZone is good they got heaps of projects on the go atm..just need to go there and see...he also knows about ftos and other imports so I think he is good.

Maybe we need to have a planning session regarding your car...and plan out stuff that needs to be done..I know I'm down for giving it a go...I'II even give u my garage!

Sounds like a plan.........the thing is all the steps are already planned out in detail but I'm just really busy to write up the website I'm gonna stick it on.

It's even got a checklist and a projected budget for all the bits and pieces I gotta do. As well as a log book to do a total count of how many hours and what I did during that time.

What do you reckon I should work on........car or website???

I haven't actually started yet. I'm just doing quite a bit of the mechanical work at home and mainly focused on the chassis. I already know what needs to be done to the engine and I'm nowhere near getting started on that yet.

But if you wanna go to Hypertech......speak to a guy named Arnold and he knows FTO's quite well coz he used to drive one.
