Dyno Run...
Hi Guys,
I had a base run before getting my exhaust and emanage put in and it came back at 97 kw at the wheels.... I cant see how that can be as ive got a fair few mods and i thought a stock FTO ranges between 90 and 100 kw.
I wasnt there for the run nor have i seen the printoff so im thinking he may have told me a lower figure to make the new mods sound like that they have made more gains.
The mods ive done are Extractors,CAI,Manifold/TB package with insulators, FPR and NGK Plitanium plugs. Maybe the car is running rich at the momment and that the reason for the low KWs it will be interesting to see the figure after the cat back exhaust and the emange have been put in.
i will keep you posted.

mate I only got a cat back and a CAI and getting 107. With the emanage+extractors I would expect to be up around 117-120. to ~112 with the emange to get a more consistant AFR base don my results and another 5-6 for the extrators..plus3-4 for a tune playing with the timing once I have the extractors...also adjustment of the MIRVEC point as mines a bit high..bring that down about 500rpm.
The cat-back is gonna be big boost..if you have the stock exhaust its very restrictive....go for it and tell us how you go!

As Steve (Godfather) had pointed out, every dyno is different, you can't compare them.
The only thing i'm interested when i put my car on dyno tune are before & after result & thats all it matter to me.

Well he has been doing the runs in 2nd and after the cat back exhaust he got 104kw which was done in 2nd... I advised him to try it in third next time. We will see what i get in third...
What would you expect the KWs to be if i got 104 in 2nd ?

Also bear in mind what has already been discussed in previous threads, that it also depends on the temperature, humidity etc. on the day that you did the dyno. Do it in Winter and see what you get then.........
And I have to agree with Chris that getting extractors does improve getting the exhaust out from the engine, but then there's the CAT, pipe and muffler that next needs some attention.

Fair enuff, by all means have a fiddle, but I can dig up at least a dozen articles from those who have done it & ended up going back to factory specs. As much with the 6A12, it was set there for a reason, with cam profiles dictating that reason.khunjeng wrote:maybe...best way to find out is to do it and see...which is what we're gonna do..based on the output it seems to be kicking in a little to late.Bennoz wrote:99% of people that play with the mivec point lose power.....

if the car's speed limited then you need to use 2nd (tip) and 3rd (man) ...
2nd / 3rd works fine in most cases we're not going to end up with big wheel spins on the dyno unless your tyres are bald...
but guys there is no point in comparing dyno numbers unless you both were on the same dyno on the same day, with the same temperature / humdity / tyre pressure...
as we've stated time and time again a dyno is a tuning aid and even that it isn't that great as the airflow is very different once you start moving a car (not just blowing air at it)...

Mine doesn't look to be setup like stock we seems to think...300-400rpm to late it seems...not sure anyway I'm not too concern about it and its not really something I'm worried about but Craig from RevZone reckons it needed a slight adjustment.Bennoz wrote:Fair enuff, by all means have a fiddle, but I can dig up at least a dozen articles from those who have done it & ended up going back to factory specs. No engine is built the same! Two cars can be exactly alike and one could be substantially quicker than the other.
Did you notice a difference in power after the mods? im guessing yes. But from this dyno printout has it made all your mods not work it? Dynos are dynos! They all read different, air temp, etc could have an effect.
Take into consideration the age of your FTO, as its no way still at that quoted figure. Every car gets tired. Go on the strip and that will be a better way of comparing car performance.
