What type of ECU does the FTO have?
What type is it?
Like, OBD0, 1, 2???
Also, my ECU has Mines stickers on it... what is that supposed to be? I mean I know the company Mines but this is a FTO Ecu with those stickers, and they are the ones that go onto where the case opens, like in computer parts to make sure things haven't been opened for warranty claims

It was supposed to be an proper Mitsi MUTII unit but it got all f*cked up during the push for production..... hence its a one off weird one. Plugs are OBDII compliant, but data output is far from it. The poms have spent 7 pages of forum chit chat trying to work it out...

Thanks for clearing up any confusion scarecrow
hmm...
Well the reason I ask and maybe this will be more relevant, is that with OBD0 and I the rom chip can be taken out and a new one be put in with a new map.
Now, I have a piggyback so obviously it's not important, but there's one thing though which can be done that a piggyback can't do, and that's raising the rev limiter... obviously with the correct engine work to go with it...
I guess this is wishfull thinking as I am thinking it would cost well over $10K to get the engine to spin to 10,000rpm safely

If you're thinking of piggybacking it,take it out and sell it......replace it with a standard fto jobbie.
Tbh i don't really know the tuning capabilities of the mines,i just know it's an expensive bit of kit.

Hate to say it guys but a Mines ECU is perhaps one thing you don't want on your FTO. They are a programmable ECU but settings can not be changed by anyone. Only Mines in Japan will tune them, and this is only available to the individual who purchased the ECU.
So basically you have an ECU that is tuned for an unknown modification level, for a higher octane fuel (usually at least 100 RON), and you can't retune it.

The only difference with you guys in the UK is that Australia doesn't have a Mines distributor and tuner so we can't get it tuned here (You guys have Prospec).mr_bishi wrote:I'm sure they're about £900 gbp new.spetz wrote:How much would it go for??
Spetz I daresay you'd be better off trying to sell it to someone in the UK. Anyone who buys it in Australia, I don't know why you would!

Well I am not sure if I am even going to bother selling it
Since it was put in the only thing I noticed is the car backfired here and there. So I am guessing running richer. It was put in because something wasn't working and just checking if it was a faulty ECU.
At this stage I am quite happy for my car to have a MINES computer, even if it is no better to me than a stock one
Am I correct though in saying that the chip in it has been taken out and a Mines one put in?
I may open it up and see, as I know in some cars they change the whole pin setup so you can just clip on and off different rom chips so you can easily swap tunes on the car
