Electrical question

Post by akuma3 »

It's a hard to answer on the spot question but here it is

After my battery die i've been getting problems with stable electricity, the voltage always drop down right to 12V when it's idle which it never did that before, check with electrician alternator is working fine so this is my first concern

Second one is a pain in the butt ... fuse keeps blowing up on me, it's the one under the dash number 10, the one that connects my central locking & alarm, it keeps blowing for some how reason (10 gone) ... any quick suggestion on what i should check? :x

is the battery ok? Did you check the water levels of your battery?? If there is not water the battery will need to be charged all the time...however this doesn't really explain the 2V dip.

The voltage regulator controls the amount of charge occurs and usually has limits around 13-14 volts...hence if you guage is 12! I would get a multimeter over the battery while charging and see if its not simply your guage...

Check this link...at the bottom they have some good tests.

I'm sure it's not the guage because when i start up the car it'll be on 13-14, it's only when i use things like the light indicator drags sooo much battery and drag it all the way to 12

The fuse part is the biggest problem at the moment

I get the same thing actually. Sometimes when I got the lights on, music on and indicators on at a traffic light, the needle matches the indicator pulse.

Mine does that =)

Nothing wrong with the electricals however... aslong as your battery isn't dipping under 12V then it's fine. It sits at 14 - 16 only when being charged by the alternator doesn't it?

Anywho, if you keep blowing the same fuse there might be a dodgey connection somewhere, a short, or water funking with it.

ok the problem just got even worst, by the way i'm using a brand new supergold battery

everytime i use my blinker the battery drags by HEAPS, like from 14 drag to 12 and 13 - 12 and then boom ... fuse gone!

any suggestion? like wiring problem? i got the problem when i got my car back from respray ... suspect wiring problem but they said they fit back everything the same way

With everything on at idle, air con stereo lights mine drags down to 8. I had mine tested and it's fine. As long as it's back up to 12-14 when your driving it's all good. As for your fuse that could be anything. Faulty wire, bad earh. Job for a sparky.

It is obvious that, while they were putting all the parts back after respray, one or more of the cables have been damaged and getting contacted to the chassis.
It seems to me that you only option is restrip everything one by one that they have touched, and check for the cable damage.
Otherwise you will keep blowing fuses, and all sorts of trouble.
I am afraid that you might cause some more problems and fry few things.

I reckon your best bet is to start from indicator cables.
Take off both side indicators, and inspect the whole cable and the unit for damage.
This is pretty easy to start with. and do this while your battery is disconnected.

why don't you bring it back to the people that did the respray and ask them to figure it out? if you're car didn't come back in the same condition after the respray i'd be pissed and i'd let them know about it.

i did which they got everything working with fuse plug in ... then after a few days i got it back the indicator suddently drags a lot of power ... i'm getting sick of giving it back

look like i have to give it to an electrician ... my reverse light is constantly on now ....... it's having all this weird problems ....... does anyone know any good (not rip off) electrican in sydney?
