Cleaning Engine Bay...

Hi Guys, my engine looks pretty sh*tty, performs well but looks old. What can i do to do the following:
Clean the aluminium (main part of engine)? particular the pipes that come from ehind the mivec cover...
Clean/Repaint/Replace the mivec cover...
Clean/Repaint the body of the car that is inside the engine bay (the paint has faded and kind of gone grey (car is white)...
Should i have the engine steam cleaned? has anyone done this? i would love to clean the entire under body of the car too...
i will post some pics when i take some of the engine bay to show you what i mean...

U can do a degrease of the engine bay,that should get rid of a lot of the easy to remove dirt and grime.Some guys have painted the plastics which look awesome.

Windex for Chrome bit & WD40 for everything else. And it should come up like this. (This was took 3wks after I clean it up). Learn this from Lee (Vic's famous FTO mechanic for those who don't know)

painting is easy. i painted a number of the white plastics (e.g. windscreen wiper cap, radiator cap etc) - having said that if you take them off and wash them properly they come up nice and white!

make sure if you degrease and hose down that you cover up any electiricals/wiring.

kev, how do you find the vault stabilizer kit you have there??
Worth it you reckon?

Its just an earthing kit & not a volt stabilizer. Cost me $40 bucks & the head lights are brighter & the voltage is more steady (according to the digital reading of the RSM)

i found that one of the nicest things to clean metal bits are 'Brasso' and i think its called 'Silvo'

You can take it to a car detailer and they can give your engine a steam clean.... :wink:
