The strongest adhesive

Post by Nacho »

Hey all,

I'm just doing some routine maintenance to my FTO and have come across just a few annoyances.

- Broken headlamp bracket (plastic bit)
- Broken inserts for the footrest

I'm just wondering as to what the best adhesive to use to glue these plastic bits back on or any special mending methods anyone has?

The headlight is ok I guess coz it's not going to pop out with the body kit on there but the footrest can be dangerous if it say comes off and get stuck under the brake pedal!

loctite 401 is pretty stong, we use it at work a lot, it is that stong that we glued the door handle back on the lunch door at work, it worked for about a week, its basically just like super glue.

So it only worked for a week?

Can you buy that anywhere or do you have to order that somewhere?

for a week worked pretty good as it was a stainless steel handle on a sliding door, u can buy it at most places, we buy it from McGINNS a engineering suppy shop next to work, I guess u can buy it any where that sells loctite.

I wonder if there's a McGinns here in Melbourne. I will have to have a look into that.

And yes we do have araldite here which I will also look into. I never had a very good experience with Araldite.
