painting FTO!~

hi all!~
me and friends are wanting to respay the cars that we have got...
sounds silly but we are going to get the project happening!!! haha

anyone who is experienced with it ? or who is in this kind of business already please give us a hand..

we need to know:
what kind of tools we need?
where to get it from?
what sort of shop should we get info from?
any other tips?

u can hire a sprayroom in "protech"i forgot the name....
i think it will be easier for u to respray your car in a sprayroom

Hehehe, well I've painted a few of my cars myself in my day...

And lets just say the neighbors were not to happy about all their windows & doors ending a nice shade of British Racing green hehehe.

Well, apart from the fact that is it illegal to do it, say in your driveway (which is where I did one) the fine is monstrous...

I put a tarp up to stop sh*t landing on it & went for it. You'll need a range of fine grit sandpaper, an angle grinder with polish tips, a reasonable capacity air compressor & a spray gun. You also have to get your paint made up. Most Auto parts places can make you any colour you like. You will also need auto thinners to mix the paint & lots of degreaser & primer.

Oh and a stack of newspaper & masking tape....

To my way of thinking the car we painted looked unreal, but it was by no means showroom condition

Man you're crazy! The main ingredient you need is EXPERIENCE! I'm assuming you're using 2 pack paint and it's bloody hard to get even unless you've done it heaps of times before.

But if you're keen....

High quality paint is a must, the cheapo stuff is crap
A very fine sandpaper
A WARM DAY!

Well I gotta spray gun and compressor if you really badly need it........but it will be impossible to create a dust free environment on a garage job. It's good for touching up windscreen wipers and stuff like that though!
