LPG has a higher octane (RON) than fuel (about 110 on average) and has the same calorific value (about 44 MJ/M3). Also the fuel/air ratio is about 10% higher which means If an engine is built with the high compression, ignition to suit the high compression and the correct cam (nice lift but not long overlap), good power will come from LPG.

just took the fto to the clide and back (for htose who dont know thats a big old mountain with tight very VERY steep roads). the way down was fun as always, saw 3 cars (mostly newer cars) that had over heated on the way up in the summer heat and being pushed up the hill so i was a little worried.

after spending some time in the surf and sand and going back, i found my car never lifted its temp gage above nominal evevn once. normally my car would go from a little bellow half to just a little above half when making this climb. bear in mind this is a bout a 30 min + drive

so shes running cleaner

All the high end companies like ferrari, messarti say:

"Ferrari does not recommend the use of ethanol blend petrol. E10 may be used in emergency situations."

Anyway, i will give it a try.. it will all come down to that, and how my car likes it, and how much backfire i will get

400 ks on and shes a little quiter and the above are still true...

i think its worht it once in a while but the extra 3c is a bit of a killer when you arfe already paying 10c extra in this day and age

note, ethonol is not recommended in high performance engines becuase it burfns differently to petorlium and in a car with extream tuning like say a ferrari.... that could be dangerus

Yeah ok...giving it a cauatious thumbs up.

Filled up the tank (really really filled

) before the Daylsford cruise.
The inital impression wasn't too great. Suspect it took the ecu a bit to catch on, plus a few other mitigating factors made everything feel a bit slugish.

Relatively speaking.

Done nearly 300 clicks and she definately seems a bit more (I hate to use the word) "zippy", particularly in the low to mid range. Certainly a touch more responsive.

I guess if you feel like spending the $$ and are prepared to blow 1/3 of a tank letting the ecu re-tune, then it's not a bad little preformance bump.

whenever you try another fuel u should always reset the ecu.... ie whats the point in driving round with 100 octane when your ecu thinks its 96

n u dont need to remove the battery for X amount of hours, just take it off n put it bak on

Used the optimax extreme, with 7point NOS octane booster on the track. went like a dream!

I saw the sign the other day and stopped to fill up. Then i saw the 5% ethanol in small print on the nozzle. So what's the verdict? Do we worry about the claimed 5%?

i tried the optimax extreme today for the first time. ran like a dream and i noticed the improvement! (privously using ultimate) this is only my third tank fill since i bought my baby last thursday and it rockets along...mmm love the mivec sound...

also to note with the new extreem optimax...a fair bit more km's from a tank fill...

how much do you all normally get?

just re-capping...Optimax Extreeme is E10 or E5? I thought cos its 5% its E5....anyway regardless I've been using it now for about 1000km and its seems fine...not really sure if its better but I have noticed a slight difference in low end power...esp. when I'm in 4th and I just want some extra power to overtake without going into 3rd...does much better now...

This is a weird question but if you use Shell Optimax Extreme and then switch back to regular Shell Optimax coz you're nowhere near an 'Extreme' retailer, does that mean you have to reset your ECU again?

Your ECU will learn to adapt back to 98ron again.
