Side mirror question

Post by GPXBOY »

hey guys

I just got my drivers door and side mirror fixed at the panel beater but the mirror that came with it is not a normal mirror it is like magnified in way that it shows distance all wrong and rta says its 100% illegal and insurance would be void.... has anyone had this prob before?

All original FTO mirror was curvex type, which magnify or make object further then they actually are, which give you a greater view toward the side.

They are illegal in Australia, & it would have been change during compliance.

Bankstown City Spares in Revesby or Just Jap in Kirrawee would be your best bet

If you really want a brand new one I can tell you the part number & you can go direct to Mitsubishi.

MR109575 - Left Mirror
MR109576 - Right Mirror

Speak to Mitsubishi before you buy & ensure they are the non curve type.
These are the only part numbers in the database for them.

Bennoz... just searched the RAWS site and there are 2 FTO compliers in Sydney:

10124 LAMONA PTY LTD LAMONA 11 074 768 960 ROSEBERY NSW AUSTRALIA - Mr Sergey Kochenkov Phone 02 9697 2851

10170 COMPLETE COMPLIANCE PTY LTD COMPLETE COMPLIANCE PTY LTD 92 092 011 286 MOOREBANK NSW AUSTRALIA Mr Sundressan Pillay Phone 02 9602 2810

If anybody would know about which mirrors to use to replace the jap style convex mirrors for the FTO... it'd be them.

Well I'll be damned. This time last year there was no-one in Aus with RAWS for FTO's. I just rang both places and confirmed - they both get the mirrors cut themselves. One guy gets sheets of mirror in & gets laser cutters to cut the shapes & then fits them into the housings himself.

I did that too. My mirror lost some of its silver so I just took an outline, brought it into a glass place and they cut me a peice to fit for a few bucks. I stuck it on with liquid nails! :D

yeah i know... i checked about 3months ago and didn't find anything and then boom... 2! Looks like we can probably bring in the GPvR for cheap :) hehe.

Oh yeah, that cutting idea sounds like the way. shouldn't be too hard for somebody with the proper tools and materials.

GPXBOY, I don't think that it's that easy to pop out the mirror (with hair dryer) once it's stuck on though. but you could try!
