Can tell you this

Post by dstocks »

Not that I condone speeding, but can tell you this.

By law, they are not allowed to have mobile cameras within 1km of each other, otherwise it is considered entrapment (This includes a combination of mobile van (govt) and speed trap (police). This means that once you go past the van.........

NOTE: This only applies to speed traps, it does not include police cars within the stream of traffic.

Also, with respect to the vans, I have been told by a policeman friend of mine that if there is more than I car shown in the mobile van photo, you can contest it. They actually cannot prove that the reading was actually your car. They dont advertise this fact for obvious reasons.

Both of these things I have been told, so I cannot guarantee them as 100% fact, but I am pretty sure they are true.

Interesting to know anyways......

This is also the case in NZ - if there is another car in the photo, you can't be prosecuted for it. Because as mentioned above, they can't be sure which car it actually was. That's why over here if you get a speed camera fine, you should always ask for a copy of the photo before you pay it.

Having said that, it only applies to radar speed cameras here. Fixed cameras have sensors in the roads, so they can tell which car it was.

Yep, same over here. These rules dont apply to the fixed cameras.

PM Me your email address again and I'll send you a copy of the map showing you the locations of the speed camera vans.
