i had a similar problem before with another car. wouldn't say exactly the same, but similar. i had a gtr fuel pump and i had the same stumbling problem when cold starting the car. the issue was the actual power going to the fuel pump wasn't enough and I had to upgrade the gauge of the power and ground lines. this doesn't sound like it's your problem (i'm guessing it's still the stock fuel pump), but I guess checking that the pump is getting the correct voltage may be a start and shouldn't be too hard to find out. you can continue troubleshooting from there.

I've just scoured the parts database, there is only one filter I can find. I've changed mine before. Its mounted up on the firewall on the passenger side. Its a bit of a sh*t to get at. (Part no is MB868459)
The hole in the rear seat is for access to the pump itself - it sits right in the middle of the tank, mounted so's that it hangs right into the centre of the tank Other things you may find along the fuel lines are Vapour collector cannisters.
