.and one more wierd one, the lights inside the guages never worked. when i took it out the lights do work but light up really dim that they dont show through the gauges. what can i do bout that???

Ok, for the dim lights, tried using your dimmer switch and turning them up?
As for the RPM dial, it sounds like you've pushed it too far back in. The needle needs to be pushed back in once you're finished, but not all the way back in as it kinda catches on something and can't move as freely.
It's verrrry fiddly and takes a few days to return to normal, but try lifting it back up a little bit so that it drops freely. You can test this by just using your finger to lift it up and then let it go and watch it drop.
You used spoons? Damn, I wasn't that cautious!

Jammed
Yep, what bucket said. Mine jammed to start with too. Had to fiddle with it for a while to get it right. Pull it out a smidge - should do the trick

found it. played around with it. did nothin. shoved my hands underneth the dash and fiddled around and it worked. ive got blue dials now. looks mad as. need to get the rpm dial working now.
thanks for that guys. wierd thing though the dimmer just dims the dash lights, not the clocks and nothin else. why do u need that for compliance beats me though
