Unforgetable moments in an FTO!

Made a hard left turn coming out of a junction to get onto Westall Road (just before the bridge), entered the corner at 45 km/h and exited at 70 km/h , so yea, braked to enter and accelerated hard after entry. Car didn't roll, but G-Forced pushed me toward the door and i used my right leg to supprt myself.

Right leg had to 1. hold accelerator (not plant it, just 50% throttle or something) and
2. support my body.

Next thing, my leg cramped and i was screaming OMG OMG IT CRAMPED and couldn't do anything for a while. (drove off with left leg). My friend laughed his head off and until today it's funny whenever we discuss suspension and hard cornerning.

been mistaken for a Soarer by this chick who thought i couldn't hear her (windows down, system up and sun roof open).

When the car has stock wheels painted black on the paint job and bodykit. (ugly but that's the way it was once upon a time without the wheels).

Ha ha ha remember the first time i had to brace myself while corning hard like that!!

Now it's just second nature when ever i'm cornering hard, left leg locks against the centre console and the right against the door so i can't move at all. Maybe i should invest in some racing seats!!

Were you at Monash Caulfield back then? Because if so i've seen your car at a weekly basis.

heehhe u need a bucket seat, & then you will find the full potential of a FTO cornering, well on a track of course

yeap.. was at monash caulfield. Pass by there almost every day, usually parked at under ground coles, the coles carpark or along the monash drive and anywhere i can park that's free, otherwise i'll pull a face when i have to pay for parking. Nowadays i seldom use it since the car has been sold but i can borrow it if there's a reason i.e. service, tuneup, add things etc..

Definitely need bucket seats, but the stock seats are good if you recline it as upright as you can sit and use the little clip on the seat's corner, and u'll be quite tightly secured to the seat. That's how i did it on trackday. Also if you use standard steering, better change to a smaller aftermarket one coz standard is quite big.

Bet none of you had a cramp trying to support yourself though. hehe had many laughs with that memory.

I had a cramp during driving before, & i was driving a bloody manual too........dam it hurt when to try to press the clutch

Anyway there are a fair bit of different between a bucket seats & the FTO seats. The idea of a bucket seats are to offer more side & lumper support so you won't move as much from side to side & your back won't hurt after fanging it around the track for a while. I've got a back problem so i notice it more then other, i know some don't feel a thing.

The bucket seat you thinking of are the fixed type. I've got the reclineable one, so its kinda best of both world. Mind you it is illegal in Australia for any 2 doors car with a back seats to have a fixed bucket seat.

As far as i know there are only 3 FTO in Australia with reclineable bucket seats that also use a proper rails, not modify factory one.

hm.. agree with you.

Where can you get seats for the FTO though? almost everyone know with bucket seats in an FTO has modified rails to fit. Off the shelf seats for the FTO is like finding gold.

I thought i'd never hear someone who's had a cramp in an FTO, and a manual at that. I feel your pain my brother, but not the clutch part and that's something i'd salute you for.

Erm.. i was talking about the standard seats providing a bit more support if you tilt it upright and use the clip so the belt secures you in a bit more than usual. But none the less nothing beats a proper bucket seat, definitely agree with you there. FTO should come with better seats after winning best FWD handling for a while.

Of course it had been raining heavily and he couldn't get traction but hey I beat him twice!

the moment i had was when i was coming back from canberra not long got out of canberra i was crusing along at 100 and an overtakeing lane opened up so i took my advantage and went to overtake what look like some kind of hyundi any way keep crusing along and i look in my left mirror to change back over to see the bastard right next to me speeding up and he gave me a big cheecky grin as he did it and the lane was about to close so i had to pull back in behind the prick i was pretty pissed off at this stage. So 15km up the road there was anouther over taking lane so i thought f**k ya jumped in the lane put my foot to the floor and shot past him and waved him good bye and stuck my fingure up once he was behind me.

walking out and seeing someone had taken to the side of my car with a fence post... dints down drivers side and roughed up the bonnet with the end of it...

oh and my ex gf trying to do a Burnout, then screaming as the thing was revving up around 9k and she didnt know how to make it stop...
