Certainly is mate.....it's just not so good for your brakes if you do it constantly.

I just sit on the foot brake and rev the car untill it starts to pull foward.....green light and off you go to redline!

Highest I've launched from was about 3k rpm.

Well no sh!t, it's an automatic car.

A launch is a launch as long as you're car is not sitting at idle.

But please oh wise one.....enlighten us all as to what a proper launch is.

This is funny shi*t, are we playing the game of "tell the obvious" ahhahaha

You think we don't like to get an manual? Of course we do, but due to different circumstances, many of us can't.

Anyway I guess the best way to launch any Tip or Auto is to do a "Linelocker" as Bucket had already mention. Unless you got a launch program/button setup like the E46 M3 & the E60 M5.

Anyone want to do a program for FTO launch??

And for the record, some of the fastest drag cars are automatic.

Thats right! variable trans header releases etc...
Some of V8 guys I used to run has some of the most incredible auto boxes. A tricked up turbo 400 box with stall converter wil rape and stick driver... 8O
There nothing money cant do to an auto box.

Whilst we're on the subject, is it good for your gearbox if say you're in 4th, then because you've braked to slow down, you switch to the manual mode and downshift a gear, so you can increase acceleration?

???

i must be reading the question wrong.... redboost if you dont do it manually the car will do that automatically... you dont pick up low speed well in 4th mate. floor it from 4th and the gear box will drop to 2nd... so its fine... is it good for the gear box? well technically every time you turn the car on your slowly killing it LMAO. but no it wont ruin the gear box... so long as you don't do it a thousand times a day and then some. thats 4th to 2nd, not 4th to 3rd, though 4th to 3rd technically wears down the ear box too, as does 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th, 3rd to 1st, 2nd to 1st 2nd 3rd 4th... confused yet :P im just screwing with ya. drop down all you want... enjoy the car.
