And a new site is born....

Post by dstocks »

Some while back I sumitted a post to gauge interest in an online parts database. Although at the time I did not get much of a response, I decided to build it anywayz.

It has become a little more than originally intended and is by no means complete yet. When finished I will have indexed all FTO sites on the web, and cross referenced all suppliers against parts.

I am currently looking for people to help update the site (parts, articles, suppliers etc can all be updated via web forms) as the task I have set is huge and the time I have is limited. I am happy for anybody to be involved (more people = better site).

At the very least I am interested in feedback on what can be improved, so please take the time to have a look and provide comment (this has taken quite a bit of effort to put together). The site can be found at:

http://www.completefto.com.au/FTO_showcontent.asp

To see what a completed part looks like (with most of the current options), type 'anti' into the search box and click on the second item in the results list.

Perhaps we could also enlist the help of those crazy poms??

For the part names at least, obviously the suppliers are going to be different.

I can probably look after some bits and pieces for you as I am a programmer but time is a little limited at the moment.

OK,

Bennoz, you have a login and can now add stuff - look at your personal messages

Ph3var - hadnt really thought about programming aid. Not sure how I could manage that at this point. Will have a think on it. I was more talking about getting everything in (aftermarket parts, other FTO sites etc and ensuring that the content that is there is as correct as it can be)

Future development at this stage includes:

Subscriptions (email you when certain content changes)
Ability to post selling info (or wanted info) against parts
part breakdowns
troubleshooting
any other suggestions you may have...

Anyone else for logins.......

Oh, valuable information. Sorry. I was just going to upload dirty jokes, gerbil porn and How-To-Meet-Hot-Russian-Brides links. My mistake...

Perhaps someone could give me the FTP/admin password to ftoaustralia.com instead?

I dont think I said anywhere that gerbil porn was not valuable!!!

there is a section there somewhere for it!!

But seriously, we currently have 6 registered contributors (including yourself) for the site and I really appreciate the fact that they have jumped in early to get involved. I still hoping for a few more to get involved - the more, the better
