Touring is what this car is meant for! I'd do it. I drove from Sydney to Brisbane when I bought my FTO, it was such a good way to try out my new baby :)

Why not? I drove mine from Sydney to Adelaide, and enjoyed every second of it.

Drive the car man - it's what they were made for!!!

I agree every now & then a long drive with a FTO is great, just the bloody petrol is a bit high atm. But at the end of the day you can't put a price tag on an enjoyable driving experience.

Now why do you have to drive from Melb to Syd to fit a bonnet & an airbox??

If your gonna make a real drive out of it, take 2 days on the way back to do the coast road, via Batemans Bay, Bega and towns of the like....
HEAPS of bendy scenic roads - beats the hell out of 9 hours on the freeway & inland roads.

Oh and before you do it, whack in a bottle of injector cleaner with a tank of 98 RON fuel (which you should use always anyhow). I have done that several times over the years in my cars and it can make a huge difference.

Case in point, when I drove my FTO from Sydney to Brisbane, I picked it up and it was idling really bad and snuffing out at lights. I thought, great, my doohicky sensor (technical term) is dirty, I'll have to clean it out. Put through the injector cleaner and it has never idled rough since.

Drove from Sunshine Coast to Latrobe valley Vic Via Canberra on Cooma end of July was great trip Glad I had spare fuel filter though it froze near Cooma FTO's do not run well when fuel is frozen in filter

Mate there're more night clubs in Syd then Melb that i'm aware of, & its so much different too. Fun is everywhere just depends what you looking for. Compare to the authentic food like Japanese, Korean, Italian , Syd is much better then Melb.

And if you buy him enough beer, he'll put his legs behind his head and try to wrestle you. Not speaking from experience of course before you all start. It's just what I read on this site. :D
