i just think its unfair i lose 6points which is my whole license because im red p plater for going 68 which i think isnt a too ridiculous speed... 3months suspention and then a 1 year 1 passenger limit... i think thats really unfair...
even if a high school student decided to run onto the road which is unlikely maybe with primary school kids yes, but not high school people, i dont think. i was in the right lane so the left lane car wouldve most likely hit the kid

As a formal school teacher & my partner is still one, I’ve got a couple of point to make about all these new speed limit.
The whole idea of making the school zone from 60 to 50 & now to 40 is just ridiculous to me, yes it might be safer for the kids, but from my point of view this type of regulation is just revenue rising for the government. It’s got nothing to do with protecting the kids.
There are no statistics or evidence had found that the number of road accident had reduced around the school area since the introduction of the new speed limit. But the revenues had been raise since it was introduced.
If the government really is concern about the safety of the children, then why don't they introduce a kids safety education programs? To me it is also a children parent’s responsibility as much as the driver. I've seen lots of parents just “let loseâ€

Whilst I tend to agree that most speed restrictions around, say, shopping areas are just revenue raising measures, school zones are a bit of a stickey. I think the whole idea of reduced speeds around these areas is more to do with the extent of damage a car doing 60km/k does to a child as compared to one doing 40km/h. My son has a speed hump crossing outside his school and I have to say I have have seen some cars becoming almost airborne over the speed hump because thay are taking no notice of the crossing. It makes me sick to see this type of disregard and just the thought of what that speeding car would do to a child on a crossing is too horrific to contenplate. Personally I think flashing lights outside the school would be of more benefit than just signs. And yes I do believe parents have a responsibility to road safety. A child was killed by a car at a primary school when she ran from in front of the bus to reach her mother who was waiting on the opposite side of the road. The mother should have been waiting at the bus stop for her child, not opposite it!
Anyway I really dont know the solution to this problem, everyone will have their opinions and are entitled to them.
But yeah to quote Teania, its not rocket science, speed kills - deal with the consequences and learn from them.

i just dont think its fair to have such a big punishment for such a small mistake, i mean losing my license for 3months and a 1 passenger limit, i think thats complete bullshit. If it was anyother day of friday i would still have my license with 1 point on it
i still dont think i deserve to lose my license
