Got a quote from RPW - $550 (doesn't include Flex Pipe (whatever they are :P))

I think you'd be wanting the flex pipe. I thought the whole idea was to replace the stock front pipe (headers downwards) to a less restrictive one, as well as getting a set tuned length extractors?

So was that $550 just for the headers (doesn't sounds right), or headers with a front pipe with no flex in it?

Elmo, MADFTO, what RPW extractors did you get??

Street Spec Extractors.

They were $550 with flex pipe (So everything from the block to the cat)

G1, shee is really throaty pre-mivec now. Once you hit mivec it sounds crap, but thats cause the exhaust was suddenly rooted when it came back from RPW. (at least they told me it is the exhaust that is rooted, funny how she was good when it went in)

Anyway, I got RPW three piece which includes flex pipe, didn't think the flex pipe was an option as it is incorporated into the third piece and would be needed to make it all fit????
Think they are worth $750 or something like that, but couldn't say cause it was part of a package deal(of sorts). Sounds expensive though, maybe that included fitting. Best to check right before you buy though cause workshops change their prices all the time.

I thought I had better clarify this as everyone seems very confused.

The system we are currenty supplying although is a "Street Design" series comes with two headers and a flex pipe as part of the package and retails for $605.00 incl GST (Ie $550.00 + GST)

The new race design we are still planning on making will be the same thing two headers and a flex pipe but will incorporate longer headers for more torque at low rpms as well as improved breathing.

With regards to noise - consistent with any breathing modiifcation on the vehicle extractors are going to increase the amount of air that the vehicle is pushing out the exhaust as the extractors are there to "Extract" air and as such they will move more air.

This will change the note of your exhaust - depending upon the system. Some cars will notice a deeper rougher low rpm growl, others will get a tinny sound at high rpm levels. It comes down to the design of your muffler and how it resonates with the greater air flow.

Any induction / exhaust modification will affect your exhaust tone as it is directly related to air volume - and from there its simple - the more air the more power the more noise.

I've been told by RPW that the Race design extractors are still in its early design stages. And that it will be a number of months before one is even manufactured.

I think the turbo kit is a bigger priority for them. Well, that's what many people are hoping!

That is exactly the situation - we are concenctraing no the FTO turbo kit first and the race design will follow later.

We are making a new magna race design header system first followed by the USA Galant / Eclipse system then the FTO will follow after that.

We cannot cope with doing too many different designs at once as we are already into a lot of projects we need to finish first before we start new ones as we are also working on brake systems as well for various cars.

Well, my car's back on the road =)

Initial effect of the extractors that I've noticed besides a large increase in noise due to my exhaust setup, is that there is a definately noticable increase in low to mid range torque. My backside dyno can't tell the effect on top end as the bottom end increase has changed my bearings somewhat =P

I've still got to get this thing dyno tuned but all I can say is I'm glad I've got a heavy duty clutch =)

Will keep you guys posted =) I'll see if I can find my old dyno sheet so you have something to compare to =)

Hey Dave, do you sell and entire package (extractors and exaust) from the headers to the muffler ?? if so how much do these packages cost, Are they easy for a mechainc to install, or will I have to find a fto specialised mechanic to install them
Also does RPW sell Induction Kits (Shinny steel induction tube with a K&n filter) for the FTO Gr ?

oh yeah and what sort of increase can an owner expect to get ?? with extractors and exaust (plus cold air induction) Would 130kw at the wheels be realistic with a tune (currently have 110kw @ the wheels)

For th FTO GR model we could not fit our normal pod filter cold air kit with piping due to the washer bottle and other things sitting int he front guard blocking our access. We did a FTO the other day with this type of system.

The extractors need to be fitted by a workshop 3 hours of hard work to be honest.

We do not do cat back systems no.

As for HP increase I have had reporst from 15 - 30hp but every car will be different and with different mods the results can be better or worse. With the FPR the results are always higher though that I can definitly state.

so can you suggest any cold air intake systems ? do you have or are your working on a cold air system for the gr ? I always though the existing air intake was the same on both the gr's and gpxs

I didn't get an FPR unit, I got another fuel presure regulator, I don't believe it's a rising rate regulator *shrugs*

Yet to be tuned, I have a feeling I'll need to tune it for top end as I'm feeling that it's got less up top, but that just might be due to the increases in bottom end throwing my peceptions out =)

Can't really tell what's happened overall until I get the thing on a dyno and tuned =)

Hmmmmm RPW street design extractors, stated this a few times =PPP

Prices well, I'm not too sure how much it would be exactly because I already had the engine out so it would of been included in the total labour figure for the service I had =P

For the GR model the best we can do at this time is to fit the rampod filter into the origonal position of stock and get some cold air plumbed up to the filter.

You can relocate the rampod into the engine bay lower so it gets a gerater amount of cold air which does work well.
