Ok Guys i think ive made a decision and im going to go the RPW extractors due to the fact that they are just that and the UAS are just engine pipes....

Im loving the sound my exhaust is making at the momment will the sound change much ??

It will make it sound slightly deeper at low revs. It will only slightly change the not at high revs, but other than that i didn't notice much at all.

Did you notice any change in exhuast note Kev?

the change note of the sounds it all depends on the design of the extractors and the lenght of them, or if the pipes are all even lenghts. if they are not even lenghts then your exhaust may become raspy.

but the simple answer is yes, it will be louder, depending your your system, my extractors made it considerably louder.

I notice the noise is louder as the MIVEC kicks in, not at low rev, but i did heat wraped the extractor from day one to quiet it down, so that might explain why.

As Boris said the noise level are also determent by what type of air-filter, CAT & CAT back exhaust you got. The funny thing i found is, the noise level had reduce after i installed the hi-flow cat, maybe is because it give a better flow?? Different type & brand of setup will give you different type of result, so I guess theres no defenate answer to it.

This has been posted soo many times, anything larger then 2.5" creates less backpressure, so you loose power. Bigger is not always better

just did a search...and couldnt find any posts

was wondering if anyone actually did some tests, cos for cars that rev to 9 grand, it should def be able to make use of the extra flow.. compared to the extra backpressure

I dont think it matters so much about what the car revs too...(cos if that was the case, you would only get enough pressure at very high revs, and you would lose performance for the first 6000 for example) but as far as I Know for any 2 litre n/a car 2.5 is more then enough - some say it should be closer to 2.25... Its the higher performance cars, turbo's etc that prosper from the extra diameter (e.g. 3inch).

dumb question/: :?

- do the RPW extractors come with the Down pipes as well?
(the ones that UAS reinvented)

check it out:

They do 8)
Its their own downpipe though - to suit the extractors.
Not interchangeable with the UAS one

cars dont run on pressure afaik
my way of thinking is the larger the exhaust the less pressure there is. and less pressure can only be good at high revs
even though its bad evidently for everything else < mid range

scroll through the exhaust systems on this webpage... http://www.aj-racing.com/product.php?ty ... ompany=T1R ..the base systems are cheap/street quiet 2.5" systems for the civics, integras, etc.... then it gets down to the s2000's, prelude, & rsx's, and at the bottom (2nd from the bottom) theres a 70mm version exhaust for the s2000 which puts out more power than the rest of the systems, and had proven figures on a dyno. (i assume becos it can create the most hp/flow of the bunch, and could probly use the extra room) 70mm is ~2.75"

the s2000 is a 2l motor that revs to ~9grand like the fto!
its 4cyl, but still, thats why i was asking before if anyones tried a larger than 2.5" pipe

kev might be able to answer your questions.

and sorry pressure was probably the wrong word... meant to say performance.... as in would lose perfromance through for everything under 6000rpm for example

..what I do know, all the performance places I have been have recommeded a max 2.5 diameter... and the HKS, apexi designed exhausts are all 2.5... there is obviously a reason for this..

sorry i cannot give you a technical answer but someone else might be able to give you a better response.

in regarsd to a s2000, those things still have a fair bit more ommph then an Fto dont they?

This is going to be a bit technical for my "engrish" but I try my best to explain this

It is correct that you need to move gas out of the exhaust as quickly as possible, but if the pipe is too large, it will slow the velocity due to expansion. Worse still, the exhaust is constantly cooling from the moment it leaves the cylinder, meaning it's getting denser and slower.

So basically mean you need the right size piping for the right size engine displacement. Larger doesn't mean it’s always better.

I've got a GR with RPW extractors 2'5 cat back. Resonator and straight through muffler. Sounds awesome. As soon as i get my plugs in i'll run it up on the dyno and post my results.

Ditto! - and yea they do sound good. Be interested to see what you run up on the dyno cause there's a few freak GRs round here that pull 100kw+
especially with these pipes..

Me too. My car has had what looks like harness brackets as well as something mounted over the glove box. Like a g tech meter or something similar. I'm hoping by some stroke of luck she might have some mods i don't know about. Wishfull thinking but you never know.
I got my car off my ex and she knew nothing about the car other than getting straight from the importer with 45k on the clock.

How much its going to cost for this two products, & is it base on exchange basis?
