Well, I spose you could cut it down. Just need to bear in mind that the stick gets fatter further down & if you were to cut a thread into it, it would be a bit larger in diametre...

I understand there is not the same market to FTO's but wondering if there were locallly made alternatives?
I believe RPW do them for $250, but you have to send your stick to them for modifications...
RPW does manafacture a rally spec short shifter kit for the FTO and other mitsubishi vehicles.
Our unit will lower the height of the stick by approx 1" / 25mm, will shorten the throw of the shifter by around 50% forwards and backwards but also sideways unlike any of the current shifters on the market which only shorten them forwards and backwards. Our shifters you can go straight from 2nd to 3rd on a diagnall and overall will improve the gear shifting feeling on the vehicle removing that notchiness.
We also do teh shifters on an exchange basis so you get our modified one, fit it up and return your stock one back to us.
These retail for $220.00 AUD$ for a modified shifter plus core charge and freight.
Takes around 30 minutes to fit and no modifiying required.
we have been selling these for many years and they are a well known product in the mitsubishi market australia wide.
