What is the weight of your FTO?

Post by DarkRain »

I have been thinking of the above and there seems to be a big difference in weight of FTOs even in the same range such as GPX. Mine is 1996 and my gf's 1995 but the weight is 1260kg vs 1150kg respectively. More than a 100 kg difference! And her car feels faster than mine too. Or maybe cause my clutch is slipping? or the engine is out of tune due to the tappets.. Whats the weight of your car?

I just found out the other day that that is a way to weigh your car free of charge (FOC). Just go to any waste management centre (there's one at Rockdale) and drop something off for recycling, they will weigh your car when u enter and exit the centre. Just remember to subtract your own weight.

I have been thinking about doing that for some time. Really, if you want to go faster, get rid of all the weight you can!

So make your GF either driver her car or walk....

100kg's is a big difference though - it should feel a bit "sharper". Both manuals/auto's? LSD? Heavier mag wheels? Extra coat of paint? Oversized window washer tank? How much fuel in each car at the time?

Both manual. I reckon is the wheels (18" vs 17"), the ABS and the sunroof. After putting all the sound system in, I reckon I should go check the weight again to see how much it has put on. :D
