Few quick Q's

Post by BuCkEt »

I'm booking the car in for it's second service soon (long overdue  ) and have a few questions about what I should be asking the shop to do:

1: My fan belt has developed a split which has led to a tiny amount of frayed belt. Can anyone tell me what the width and length of the fan belt/belts is??

2: Tappets....I beleive I have those wonderfully noisy tappets...can any work shop adjust these or does it require special equipement suited to the task??

3: I'm contemplating getting Castrol 5w 30 put in...can anyone come up with a reason why I shouldn't?

I guess that's it.

Any help is appreciated. :D

Also: Can any GR owners tell me about MAF sensors and adding pod filters....I have a spare lying around I want to give to a GR owner but I'm not sure if you can straight swap it or not.

Hey Bucket, yeah with the sensor you just need a bracket made up to bolt onto the sensor with some tube welded to it for the filter to slide on. I did it the hard way (making the bracket) until I found out UAS sell the bracket...
It also comes with certain brands of filters suited for the FTO.

I beleive the belt that needs replacing is the power steering/AC belt....it's the larger of the two belts on the left hand side of the engine bay.
