Here's a good bang for your buck - for those of you with a manual FTO...
In my latest money pit spending spree (ie the bottomless vat that is an FTO) I bought a short shift kit from Perfect Run http://www.perfectrun.com.au and its a winner! For those of you that are looking to shave some tenths off your lap times, then this is for you:

And before you ask - NO! it does not make your gear stick 'shorter'...
As you can see by the first pic, the long length of the lower shaft and height of the aluminium plate - it changes the pivot point of the stick...
ie: the distance you have to move the stick to change gears is much shorter. The distance for me to change the stick from first to second was about 3 inches - its now 1 & 1/2 inches. In other words, nice quick gear changes now.
Fitting the unit is a peice of piss. See the 3 bolts I marked in black? All you gotta do is remove them & take out the split pin out of the side cable mount. Then undo the clips that hold the stick into the lower cable & the whole stick assembly comes out. Then all you have to do is remove the 12mm bolt that holds the white plastic retainer onto the ball pivot on the stick & pull the old stick out! Re-assemble the same as you pulled apart - except that the aluminium plate goes under the whole assembly. Use the supplied bolts to re-attach the unit - as the factory one you pulled out aren't longh enough now. Just remember to use a good blob of grease on all the moving parts to unsure its nice, quiet & smooth when you start using it again.
Total cost to me (landed in from Japan) $380.
Total time to install was 30 minutes.
