Power output

Post by mike »

I put my GPX on the dyno today. Shootout mode in third (dont ask me why they did it in third). I managed 125.5HP/93.5kW atw in completely stock form. How does this compare to your efforts? If youve put yours on a dyno , let me know what you got and what mods you have, just to give me a general idea.

Thanks
Mike

I got 101kw at the wheels. I didn't go to the dyno shop to get that done I had to get an emmisions test done if that affects it at all I don't know.

I think power comparisons between different dyno's isn't very smart. The power figures will always differ. I think it's only fair to compare results run on the same dyno with the same settings! But still it nice to see the range of these figures.

But yeah, stock power for your car mate, sounds about right! Chuck in a good air intake and a better muffler, and your looking at breaking the 100 mark for sure!

There are actually a couple threads about dyno results somewhere, just do a search for dyno, if your interested! They even have the graphs! :P

Mike is your auto or manual? Cos that would make a difference..

P.S. Bennoz, I would be very interested to see what your beast produces with all the goodies you got! let us know mate!

Best question ever, it doesn't matter how many kwatw you got, it’s the torque that will make the different. If two identical cars have the same kwatw, but one got higher torque, who you thing going to win

Interesting...

I GIVE HOPE TO ALL NON-MIVEC GR OWNERS!!!

105kw atw

But they didn't give me a friggen torque figure!! I shoulda stayed around when they did it and specified!

It was pinging like a bitch though - and compliments of the way Ralliart tune their ECUs (hard coded) they cannot make any tuning changes...
So: Anyone got a spare Unichip or SMT6?

I will post the request in Parts wanted.

Do you know why its pinging? Is it Air/Fuel ratio or Timing? Or worst both?

I would've thought air / fuel - beacuse the pinging has only started since the extractors & exhaust went on - but the a/f mappings on the dyno looked ok.
So possibly timing, but because they cant do anything with ECU, it looks like a few more $$ before I get it right. Overall though, Im pretty happy - especially considering its non-mivec.

This should make for some interesting comparisons. Ive got a new 65mm throttle body & ported/polished inlet manifold ready on Friday. Then I'll get this new computer dialled in (found one today.) I'll try and get a dyno run up between each mod - see what figures she comes up with..

So which ECU unit you end up getting?

Gone for Unichip. Guys got a 16 and a 32. Gonna try the 32 first (cause we heard it may not like the 32) if not, I'll go with the 16. $400 for the 16, $550 for the 32 - both second hand. No fitting / tuning included in that price either...

I sense a big $ figure on the horizon! 8O Oh well, things we do for horsepower...

Yeah dyno tune & fitting should be around $500, so all up around $1k, you doing well :D

the FTO stock produces about 180NM of torque right? Im guessing the torque figure would be very similar for boths V6's.

hey Mike, my car was the other fto on the dyno that day... the dyno graph for mine says 124hp/637lb of torque. thought at the end it looks like he either took his foot off the accelerator and put it back on again.. or its the result of all that unburnt fuel flying out the exhaust  but i didnt see it on the second run... only the first which got ~111hp

my mods was the simple muffler and the hks (hot) air intake... that was the only difference to yours, and i got 1hp less :(

but theres also somethin else screwed with my car that i gotta get checked out..

best bet for anyone who wants to upgrade their air fitler from standard is either a properly shielded cold air kit from UAS or a rampod kit from RPW which puts the filter in the front bumper

Which gear are you all getting your cars dynoed in? I've searched a few threads and not that many seem to be done in fourth (incl some of the old dyno days) - the ratios are closest to 1 in fourth.

Gotta love differences between dynos..I don't really hold much value to them as it's so easy to change the values to give a larger (or smaller) reading. If the operator is holding them constant on one day, that'd be okay. Just seen too many dissimilarities!

Ive got the rampod from RPW with a larger then normal K&N filter.
Its definatly the go IMO only got a huge hole in my engine bay to fill now.
Got to go see David from RPW this week to see about filling the hole (hopefully turbo action :) )
