Mmm.....I finally got my rear end fixed up....but now it's quite obvious that one side of the car is darker than the other...not just a single panel but the whoooole car.
Maybe it might be time to get that respray done....hmm....

well i supose i can add my name to this list =(
wasnt really a crash, more of a parking accident, but i still have the dent and scratch as a result.
as i was reversing out of a tight unfamiliar driveway in the dark last night, i hit my front right quarter panel on a pole that wasnt even as high as the car, and put a dent with a scratch just above the wheel.
the pole was a meter out from the edge of the driveway (a riduclous spot for it) and because it wasnt even as high as the car i couldnt see it.
i can just feel that its going to be expensive to fix.....
ahhh well, sh*t happens, you just have to learn to smile and realise that its all part of life.
my main annoyance is that it will delay all the other things i want to do to my car....

Now I'm peeved. I got my car out of the holding yard yesterday because the panel beaters were taking to long to get me a quote. My car is not only covered in muddy water, presumedly having sat in a holding yard that is nothing more than a paddock but the left rear panel, boot and spoiler are now covered in scratches, some of which are actual grooves in the paintwork and definitely won't polish out. I haven't called my insurance company yet but I'm assuming they will have to cover that damage as well. Anyone had any experience like this?

if the car is damaged while in insurer care, (this means anywhere but with you) they must pay.
last year an rx8 was hit from behind and pushed into the rear of my old mans protege. the damage was bumper and boot so it could be driven. the insurance company took the car, but a week later on the way to the panel beaters someone drove up the insurance blokes ass and pretty much totalled what was left of the rear of my old mans car.... not happy jan. they fixed everything no questions asked. this was aami by the way
so yeah they should pay for that, be adement and forcfull, if they even smell that your not sure about it they will seek the back door.

I'm a sinner, yet forgive me nothing. I'm a heathen, but forever free.

Panel Beater Recommendation
Well I've finally got my car back on the road. I am _very_ impressed with the repair job. My car looks almost as good as it would have looked the day it came out of the showroom.
In short, the left front panel was busted and the bonnet was slightly chipped. Then in the holding yard, the left rear panel and boot (and spoiler) were scratched up.
The quote was to replace the front panel, respray the front panel and bonnet, blending into the door and polish out the rear panel.
What they actually did was the above, plus repaint the entire left site and bonnet. Polished out both my headlights removing all the little scratches. Steam cleaned my engine. Fully detailed the car inside and out. Cut back the entire car and fixed (including plastic welding) my side skirts of which had a small crack in the paintwork.
So in summary, I can highly recommend Phil Darnell at Clean Image Custom Panel & Paint at Clontarf, (07) 3883 2080. He's not as "professional" in terms of image as some of the bigger panel beaters but his work is amazing. I'm absolutely stoked with my "new" car.
