New PC hardware prices site
Hey guys,
Just thought I'd let you know that myself and a friend have started up a new hardware pricing service called PC Price Patrol. I know lots of you out there are modders, and I'm sure there are lots of geeks out there, so hopefully this will be of some interest!
Basically the site just offers a monthly newsletter on the cheapest hardware prices in Australia, as well as a few interesting articles along with it. We are looking to also track stats for product prices, such as the monthly price difference. There's a forum in place and we're hoping to build it up to be a decent hardware discussion zone.
The Site and newsletter are currently in Beta testing stage at the moment, so please forgive any glitches, but over the next couple of weeks we'll be adding more content and beefing the site up, so for now feel free to take a look and let us know what we can add to improve it.
Check it out here: http://pcpricepatrol.dyndns.org/

Hey that’s a good thing you got going there, but I’ve just got a few questions
It the pricing purely base on price? As there are few problems I’m aware with some shops that are "super cheap"
1. Grey imports (No Australia warranty)
2. Re-badge products (e.g. Acer burners re-badge as Pioneer
)
3. After sales services (I’ve had heap of compliant about certain retailers that charges customer for handling fee from $35-$60 for return warranty)
4. Stock availability, as some of the shop advertises under cost but never have them in stock.
These are base on my experience as an Area Manager for a finance company who looks after 90% of the I.T retailers, SME, & large corporate in Australia & N.Z.
You pay what you get, I usually rather pay a little bit more for all my things, knowing that I’ll get the after sales service & the products are genuine.
And yeah there’re like 70% of the members here have an I.T related job, so its great place to start ehehehe
Just my 2 cents

Hehehehe... FTO338, you are describing my local part bloke down to the letter...
He's dirt cheap, can't speak a word of English, never has the bit your after - even if it is on his price list, its ALL grey imports & they're return policies a sh_tty at best.
Not that I mind - Im a full time nerd myself. If its breaks, I fix it...

I just went to buy some stuff from MSY on the weekend!
They advertised 2 * 512mb of carsair ddr ram for $150 - went there and guess what.. they were out! So I opted for samsung instead.
I also bought a pioneer 109 dvd burner for $69 - I hope it wasn't rebadged!!!
And yeah I saw some sweet 17" LG lcd's for $300 - i'm tempted!
Does anyone know anything about pc hdtv tuners? Any brands/features you can recommend?
Mike
