Handheld CB

Post by Camo »

I used to know some of the Cordia boys here in melb, and they used to always drive around with handheld CB's to chat to each other on.

Its useful for deciding where to go while driving, informing on police movements (i didnt actually say that ;p ) and generally chatting about crap.

I have one, and i was just wondering if anyone else has one, or if anyone uses them while out cruising =)

Very handy!

I'm looking to buy one. I wanted a dash mounted cb/scanner but the gf wont let me have one :(

Does anyone have one of those new small 0.5w uniden ones? (They usually sell them in a pair at Dick smiths for $58)

I was thinking about getting one but the signal might not be strong enough to work clearly in a moving car?

if you seriously want one, you are going to have to spend ~$60-70

You need a CB (I have a Digitor T-584)

then you will need 4 quality AAA rechargable batteries

Dick Smith have some good ones, and often on sale =)

sometimes cheaper if you buy 2 =)

the .5watt ones are useless... we use 1watt ones...but if i was feeling rich i'd buy a 5watt one like my marine radio they really make a difference...

at the end of the day you get what you pay for

3w is fine, a 5w would be nicer, but more expensive!

When you say .5 watt ones are useless, what applications would you use them for? My main uses would be simple car to car communication when on road trips and for hiking/camping.

5w ones are about 3-400 minimum (A bit more then i'm willing to spend)

I think I might go for a 1w undien with rechagable battery pack...

the 3w gives you that little more range that you need on road trips when cars get spread out or when your in a town.

they are only ~$70 and are lots better quality then a ~$20/30 one...
