the car won't move a single mm until the needle revs past 3500rpm+ if it's got a 5" exhaust LOL... on a GPX, i believe it'd be a 2.5" exhaust diameter. Any larger and there will be a massive bottom end loss, and smaller and there won't be much top end...

d_stroy_r - both pics came from the 5zigen website. compared to the pic of my car, it all looks the same to me IMO anyway... :?

how big is the video file? you can send it to me and i'll host them for you if you like... ;)

yea i was pretty set on getting the HKS super drager exhaust, but they don't make them anymore cos of Jap regulations... i contacted a few places (including HKS) to see if they had one 'lying around' but had no luck (which was no surprise)... well, that's why i'm looking at the apexi n1 and the 5zigen in the first place... hmm can anyone tell me how much they got the apexi N1 or the 5zigen fireball for?

oh yea ... send him the video to host so i can see it as well :D

those $700 extractors - they wouldn't be ceramic coated would they?

hmm, i have no idea where Geebung is... anywhere closer to, say, box hill or doncaster area that someone could suggest? :D

I got my APEXi N1 cat-back system for about $1000 plus fitting. I've since come across some performance Internet shops that can offer better prices than that though. Not sure about 5Zigen but would probably be approximate the same price as APEXi.

The RPW extractors are not ceramic coated and are manufactured by mild-steel. You can get them coated at places like HPC or Jet-Hot. I don't have the extractors so I can't say what the end result of the coating looks like.

I'm sure the Melbournions on the forum should be able to give you a pointer or two about where to get parts.

some good place to start for buying bran name exhausts like 5Zigen/Apex'i/HKS/Blitz in Melb would be:

1. Rev Zone @ Nunawading
2. Zero Sports @ CBD Chinatown
3. Auto Racing Technik @ Northcote (i think)
4. JR Auto Concepts @ Box Hill
5. Motorware @ Clayton

Just be prepared to pay anarm & leg for them though - Jap parts don't come cheap!!

Hope that helps... ;)

Makspeed (now known as Zero Sports) is located opposite Shark Fin House (or is that Shark Fin Inn?? ...can never get that right LOL)

and yes, their service is absolutely shithouse plus they seem to pull prices out of their arses sometimes...

Just be careful when you play with exhausts, I bought my FTO in Aus from a previous owner directly, they had an exhaust system moded with bigger high flow cat and large oval/cylinder single pipe system with fairly stock pipes. It sounds off only under reasonable acceleration, when to the exhaust specialist other day as I was getting jacked with the performance, he tested the flow at the outlet (I think he unbolted it and inserted a probe)

Long story short the system is too big for the car, it appears to be very similar to a ford falcon kit!, put in by a no idea exhaust fitter.

Am now pricing the zigen with extractors from RPW, any now where to get the zigen cheap?

i had my old one for sale a couple of months ago for $150 but it got sold within 2 weeks!

like any genuine Japanese performance parts, you won't get a genuine 5Zigen exhaust/muffler 'cheap' anywhere... Your best bet would be to scope out other forums in their 'For Sale' sections - you might find a gem in there for the right price.

if you need to know, a brand new genuine 5Zigen Fireball muffler is about $600 each (the last time i saw one for sale).

Or if you want to buy from a website, give
http://www.perfectrun.com.au a go.

They have several brands of exhaust systems for the FTO there among other parts. I got my Apexi N1 from there.

yea i went with a friend to motorware in clayton cos the guy sorta knows the owner... got a quote for the N1 for $1100 fitted which isn't too bad... perfect run website is incredibly expensive ... quote for the N1 was substantially more than that (can't remember exactly what now though)... they've got a very good range of products though, which is y they can afford to charge so much...

does anyone out there have pictures of FTOs with dual exhausts? thinking of getting a custom job done but deciding whether i want 2 single tips or 2 dual tips :)

i'm planning on getting the RPW extractors (HPC coated) in 3 weeks time so will let u all know how it goes...

I believe Jiwan (G1) has a dual exhaust system fitted on his baby as pictured below:

...and this one from Kazbah:

Had a chat to a few people, and apparently it's not possible - they're only cosmetic - just welded to the side

can anyone confirm this?

If so i'll just get myself an N1 Apexi :P

i can't confirm it, but i don't see why it wouldn't work... i guess it all comes down to the internal design of the muffler itself... with $$$, anything is possible, that is my belief... ;)

bugger :P

aparently it's because it's an east-west muffler - comes in on the left hand side - and goes out on the right.

fark it - just ordered the N1 :P
