HiRAEdd's Car

Post by HiRAEdd »

I finally got off my butt and took some half decent pics of my car after pretty much finishing the work I wanted to do on it since buying it in September. Comments (except bad ones ;) ) appreciated.

Very pretty mate. You must be a very happy guy. Those gold calipers look very smart against those wheels.

Maybe get rid of the orange parts of the front indicator pods next? Just an idea.... :)

Yes, they're HID's (http://www.ftoaustralia.com/modules.php ... 2983#42983)
The driving lights are Phillips Blue Vision.

hmmm.... hoped to do mine sometime - so probably best to ask someone who knows what their talking about. I've read about people smashing the orange plastic to get it out, or some guy even cut it up using a soldering iron, and removed it piece by piece through the small hole. 8O

All sounds a bit drastic to me, so might try this guys method of cooking the pod to melt the glue, and simply open it up: http://www.ftooc.org/phpbb/viewtopic.ph ... range+pods

Gunna keep looking - might be a decent HowTo around somewhere.

It's a nice look thats for sure 8)

just my opinion, take off the rear spoiler, i don't like the stock one and your car would look rather nice without it

I smashed the orange filters out of the front indicators very shortly after buying mine. I wasn't privvy to the knowledge I have now and looking back I would've persisted with the baking method. I never managed to get the sealent pliable enough so just gave up and busted them up from the inside! Of course it took a fair while as the hole at the back is pretty small. So I'd suggest you stick with the oven method if you want to do it the easy way and it will no doubt give you a better result than my way (I have a couple of scratches on the inside of the lens if you look really closely).

Car looks good (esp the xenons!) - doing anything else to it or is that pretty much it?

Nice...

I can never get my HID lights to look that blue in pictures. Maybe it's just my camera skills are lacking ... or I'm not doing it when it's dark enough.

The HID's are 8000k or something like that, hence why they are so blue I think. On the road they light up anything that is white like a Christmas tree :)

I'm pretty much finished with the car now. Though I would like to get her totally resprayed at some point in the future. Whilst she looks good in the pics, the paint finish is poor quality but a total respray is gonna cost a lot.
I'd also like to put different fabric on the seats, make them more "race" like :) I'm currently making a front strut brace and a fan shroud for the engine bay. Hmm...maybe I'm not so finished for now hehe.

Rear spoiler stays until if and when I get a body kit ;)

I orginally wanted TSW VX1s but they no longer make them so this was suggested by the wheel shop and I'm glad I waited so long to get them, they look so awesome, especially while driving along.

Thanks for all the positive feedback peoples. It's nice to have the car appreciated. The girlfriend loves being seen in it but she's sooo sick of me talking about my FTO ;)
