what weight of redline did you use?
I used the light weight (blue) oil but it still crunched for me at the start, it wasn't till after a while I noticed that it didn't crunch.
Has anyone tried the heavy weight (red) oil?

Question, do you remember what size the sump bolt is on the manual transmission??? Is it an imperial or metric size?

Either 17mm, or 23/24mm. I can't remember which one although I should do - I only changed my oil a week or so ago. And I used redline too.

If I get a chance, I'll make sure...

I don't seem to have a problem changing up through the gears, but changing down from 3rd to 2nd is a real bitch on mine... it does get better as the engine warms up, but its still very difficult to get a good smooth change.. do you think this is due to the oil?? only changed it a while back...

Any thoughts??

The only problem i have is selecting first when cold (the g/box not me  ) but i think that's not helped my my c's short shifter. The car has definately got to be at a standstill when selecting 1st.

Do different brands of oil really make that much difference?

Apparently so... I was gonna give oilman a call sometime seeing as he's a oil god...

Wonder if some nice silky smooth Silkolen Silktran Syn 5 will do the trick..
