Anyone planning to go to the strip?
hey all
was out at the WSID last night... no fto's competing but some of my honda friends were...
my mates dc2r got 14.1 which we were happy with... im pretty sure it was the fastest integra there that night because one of the others was running low compression in one of the cylinders...
anyone planning to drag their fto's? they announce car clubs on the PA ... might be a good cruise location one day...

hey guys,,, it would be great to get a crew out at wsid.... wish i could race again. i went down on the feb 9th to the street meet i was the only fto there. i pulled a good time though for it being my first time on the track
60 foot= 2.326
330 foot=6.120
660 foot=9.164
1000 foot= 11.720
inished with 13.886 @103.87 mph
its really good to go to the track and have some fun but not to good when u blow your engine apart like i did. on that one run i filled my oil catch can (1 litre) full with oil from the blow by. so there is a better time still to be had from my car.

Stock internal with turbo setup, hmmmm from memory FNTSY said he was running 10psi, or was it more?? Can't remember.MrFT000 wrote:what exactly was the kill factor in blowing your engine?
I really want to get my car on the strip but now im kinda paranoid...

I will be running on the strip on Sunday - however it will not be somewhere as well built as WSID. It will be NZ's only purpose built dragway at Meremere which is nowhere near the facility WSID is, so it will be interesting...

hey guys turboing an engine and leaving stock internals in isnt the most reliable way to travel... i was pushin 9 psi through the engine and the timing on the microtech was heavily advnanced there for the engine wasnt able to cope with it..... if i was running less boost and tunned more safly i would have been right.
but these things happen,,,,,, but it is heaps good to get out there and have ago... dosent matter what time u pull just have fun...
but dont get turned off going to the strip because my car fell apart... there was another 150 or so cars there with me and they had no problems.
at WSID u need long pants and long shirt + a helmet.
your car can not be leaking any oil or coolant and has to have the batter straped down properly etc.
it cost around $45 and is a great night.
heaps of stock skylines with simple mods like cooler, exhaust and boost were only running high 14's and low 15's when i was there.
everyone was stoked to see a FWD FTO pull in the 13's.

hey mate, so where are those pics you promised me? hehehe...
turboing the FTO with stock internals can still be reliable - it all depends on how well the car is tuned... running rich may be bad for fuel economy and emissions, but it keeps the engine cooler. running lean (too much ignition advance) may be good for a bit more HP, better fuel economy and less emissions, but you WILL run into reliability problems - even more so with forced induction on 10.0:1 compression ratio!
btw were you there when the car was tuned on the dyno? and also don't you hear the car ping when you boot it? being high on ignition advance you would usually hear it ping its tits off just after MIVEC kicks in... (assuming it's a MIVEC)
