Gear box assesment price?

Hi,
Just wondering if anyone would know,
but what kind of price would i be looking at to get my gear box opened up and checked....rough ideas???

too much! the labour involved in just opening up a gearbox just to check it is too much and not worth it if nothing is going to be done... you'd be better off reconditioning it or replacing it if you think you have prolems....

well its getting done, just wanted to see if the 400ish dollar quote before replacement parts was over the top or about the norm..
i know its a lot of labour, but just wanted to be sure

i'd say thats about right.... because i got quoted 500 to put my lsd in... but im gonna ring around...
