Gtech/dragstrip comparison w/Extractors impression.

Post by Leigh »

Here is an interesting little comparison I have, using a Gtech.

Before the extractors, I had used the Gtech and was ranging between 15.1-15.3 for 400m ET @ 95-97Mph (153-156kph).

Down at the drag strip, I was getting 14.6-14.8 for 400m ET @ 94-95Mph (150-153Kph)

so the Gtech gave me a little higher trap speed, but not by much. Yet my times were a bit slower, which I believe to be pretty accurate to the real time due to the Motorplex's nice surface.

Now after the extractors have been installed, it seems to have gained a whole heap in the midrange, yet the top doesnt feel as strongas before. This might be because the difference from mid to high has been decreased, making it only feel not as fast up top.
*Sidenote* Everyday driving however has become hugely enjoyable though with all that fat mid power.

Now with the Gtech and a full tank, I go for another run with the extractors on.
I was ranging between 14.6 - 14.8 for 400m @ 103-105MPH (166-169kph)

What the?!

So using the differences to scale the Gtechs times to get an estimated run at the strip, im getting 14.3-14.5@ 100-102 MPH (161-164KPH)?
ohh baby!

Hey, great times Leigh. I would have thought to have expected this though with extractors though, maybe it has given you more mid range (torque?) at the detremint to top end power. Although I think the only way to know for sure is to dyno it, by the way would you mind telling me what sort of mods you have?

Yep its a manual, and power mods so far - custom cold air intake pipe +K&N pod, Extractors, Cat back exhaust, exeddy clutch.

Oh, if I have some spare cash this fortnight, I was planning to go get it dynoed, I aslo have my old dyno sheet from the same place before the extractors, so i'll post up the results for a comparison.
