I mean, look, that too. But Queensland is big and one only has so much energy to go whacking cane toads with golf clubs.

He worked for NSW trains back when I bought some stuff from him. He gave the parts to the train operator on the Sydney-Newcastle line to meet me at a station.

For everybody wanting a mid engine 6A12, here's my Stratos replica with a 6A12 Mivec

Sounds a bit different than an FTO, presumably since it has a very short exhaust.
How does it go?
How much power did it make?
And what were the biggest challenges of doing this swap?

It goes really well, I'm still tweaking things but it's certainly fun to drive.
Currently making 158 Hp at the wheels, but we've got the rev limiter set at 7000 rpm so I'm hoping for a bit more once the final tune is done.
I tried really hard to make the headers all equal length which may be some of the sound difference, also it's a 6 in 2 with a H pipe system rather than the FTO's 6-2-1 system
It was fairly straight forward to fit, the only issues I had was,
Fitting the alternator, there's not quite enough room for the stock one, so I've got a small 40 amp one on a custom bracket. If my wife hadn't wanted A/C it would have been easier.
The stock water pump is not quite good enough to pump the length of the car at idle so it was over heating on the dyno at the end of a power run. I've fitted an electric boost pump which seems to have fixed that. Certainly the temperature was still rock steady after 4 laps of Manfield

What other engines had you considered putting in there?
And I assume you're in NZ?

Craig, that looks awesome!
Sounds good. Unique, not too over the top.
Have always loved the Stratos.
How's the M.A.T New Stratos..? Big money.
So, my project has sat for so long with zero progress.
Had other stuff going on, family, life, etc.
Still with Sydney Trains.
So, wifey says the other week, that I should get back into it, get this thing done.
She is right.
Nothing photo-worthy yet, as I pretty much need to go thru it and do a lot of cleaning up to bring it back to how it was in the last pics posted up here.
Elise is satin white. Wifey says to go lime green.
I have another toy, an Alfa 159, the V6 Q4 (all wheel drive) 6sp manual.
Much stuff done there, audio, custom steering wheel, race seat/harness, coilovers, wheels, big brakes, lights front and rear, a few supersprints in it so far.
So the Elise resides at my mum's house. I do what I can whenever we go visit (once a week or so).
So, clean, bring it back up to condition, then get right into finishing it up.
Hope I will have some updates, incl pics, soon.
Had to reset my PW on here, had forgotten it!

That's not bad for having another 1000RPM or so left on the table! Should keep making power to redline.Tomorrowcalling wrote: ↑Tue Jul 20, 2021 3:15 pm It goes really well, I'm still tweaking things but it's certainly fun to drive.

Any idea what the car weighs?
Welcome back, Clint! Wondered if we'd ever hear from you again, keen to see it all come together.

Yes, I can only imagine.
I have new motivation to get it sorted, so will be doing all I can, as often as possible to get it done.

I also have a strong suspicion I have the valve in the inlet manifold working backwardsThat's not bad for having another 1000RPM or so left on the table! Should keep making power to redline.

1013 Kg, with about 30 l of fuel
I'm really interested to see how the ITB's work out, been considering doing something similarI have new motivation to get it sorted, so will be doing all I can, as often as possible to get it done.
The kit supplier (Listerbell) does a few of variations of chassis to take the following engines, Alfa V6, Toyota 2GR-FE, Ferrari V8.What other engines had you considered putting in there?
And I assume you're in NZ?
Most people go for the Alfa engine, but I wanted to be under 2l so I'd be in the 1601 - 2000cc class if I race it. Also the 6A12 Mivec puts out the same power as the 2.5l Alfa (and the original 2.5l Dino). The Toyota engine would be my second choice but I'm not sure if I want that much power with such a short wheel base. (I know my limitations) The 6A12 mounts very similarly to the 2GR-FE so my car has a "Toyota" chassis
yes I'm in NZ
