Shitrus.
Bought this little champ 4 years ago for $2500.Had 137k on the clock and owner told me it had a dodgy roof rust repair.
Has had a lot of time spent smoothing the body out and some minor mods.
Currently serves as my daily work car and lives in epoxy primer. This coming year will see some serious work and paint.

Re: Shitrus.
Early rust repair. Has since been re done with a slightly thicker plate welded in.
Originally went with same thickness, kept cracking so upped to a 1.2mm plate.

Making some ground. Roof has been a prick, but almost on top of it.

Guards and bumpers ready for sand and paint.

Re: Shitrus.
Even gave the lights a good sand and clear coat.
I added a little bit of blue base to the head light clear. Gives a mild blue effect when the lights are on.

Re: Shitrus.
Wheels and engine bay copped a basic matte black. Plenty of work left to do engine bay wise.

Re: Shitrus.
The basic finish, pretty happy with it for a shed job.
Is going to be a fair bit more work incoming, but for the time being it looks good and has plenty of suspension and brake work.

Re: Shitrus.
Also, can you run me through the sanding process to get the lights like that? Mine are fucked and need some attention!

Re: Shitrus.
If they have been previously clear coated or have deep scratches then i would start with a 240grit sand.
Otherwise good to go with 400/600/800 and then 3-4 coats of 2k clear.
If air drying i would let the 2k cure for 2-3 days.
After cure sand with 1500/2000 and 3000. All sanding wet too.
Get a good foam compounding pad and buff them with a decent buff compound, i used Juice Qcut but you can use something cheaper.
Give them a wash and then switch to a softer foam pad and buff with a finishing type compound.
I used Meguiars ultimate compound but any that can deal with 1500 marks will be fine.
Give them another wash and then polish and wax them.
