Aircon Compressor Bypass Belt
Hi there.
Trying to diagnose a noise from the pulleys on my FTO.
Changed my powersteering pump and the tensioner and still makes the same noise.
Does anyone know what size belt bypasses the aircon pulley?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Aircon Compressor Bypass Belt
Did you use an automotive stethoscope to diagnose where the noise was coming from?
You don't need a bypass belt, you can take each belt off at a time and run the car to see where the noise is coming from

Only happens in the morning and goes away after 15 mins so hard to diagnose. Once it has been ran once, it takes several hours for the sound to reappear.
How much is a stethoscope and what percentage chance do i have of finding the noise as i cant put it on the pulley as its moving.

Re: Aircon Compressor Bypass Belt
I've also taken the belt of each and it is from the pwrsteering/Ac one.
I replaced the tensioner first.
No change
Then i replaced the Pwr Steering pump.
No change.
So a bypass belt would confirm that it is infact the compressor and i can head down that pathway of getting it replaced - regassed - change my heatercore while im there.

Re: Aircon Compressor Bypass Belt
Isn't there a center part of they pulley that you can use a stethoscope on?
I've never used one before but from what I understand it should be unmistakable in sound. They generally do not cost too much (I think under $20 on eBay)

Turn your Ac pulley with belt off. Bet ya it's not spinning freely.

From memory its a 6PK950. Don't quote me on that though, I'd have to have a look at my car.

Re: Aircon Compressor Bypass Belt
To bypass use existing belt, remove compressor and route belt other side of tensioner and all good

Re: Aircon Compressor Bypass Belt
It was the ac compressor sprayed wd40 between clutch and belt and noise went away. Have just removed whole belt and purchasing compressor from Sahin.

Re: Aircon Compressor Bypass Belt
Told ya it was the compressor. Easier fix would be to replace the bearing in the pulley. $40 for the bearing and saves ya from degassing the system.

Re: Aircon Compressor Bypass Belt
You can’t. It can’t be rebuilt there’s no part for it.
I just went and got a second hand compressor.
