Cost of running an FTO in Ireland!!

Post by kazbah »

I got this from Kev on the FTO Ireland site - take a deep breath and thank God we live in Australia

For mine, 95 GR manual, registration of €1617 (once off), national car test (road worthiness thing every 2 years) €58, insurance depending on driver of course, me, 28, had full no claims until jan last year but fully comprehensive for about €2800. Was going to be HALF if not less than that before the claim. Not an untypical amount for people to pay though for insurance. Check out the insurance forum if you wanna know more. Yearly road tax last year stood at €539 I think it was.

Not a cheap car to own but she's worth it methinks!

Kev.

That works out to around AU$5635.00 a year not including the once off registration fee!!

How do these people afford it??? 8O 8O

Sounds weird for insurance, 8O

comparing that there are hips of FTO's advertised at ebay for around 3500 pounds = AUD$8500,
2800ueros for the insurance = AUD$4721

  You can buy another FTO for free if you dont insure your car for 2 years.

One important question, is Ireland standard of living higher then Australia?? If it is then its not that expensive if you actually live there.

Insurance is not only compulsary over here but for some reason 99% of companies will not quote to insure the FTO, but get this they will insure for example a 2.5L Twin Turbo Skyline. My brother is paying 2800euro on a 1.0L toyota starlet.

Insurance is a big talking point over here for the last number of years.
I beleive the total profit from car insurance in Ireland last year was 80-100 milllion and thay still claim to be making losses.
