Good day gentlemen, would anyone have any tips for removing the rear quarter panel glass. I understand that they are near impossible to get out. Some kind soul busted mine on Easter Sunday.
Any helpful tips to help remove the unit would be much much appreciated.

Surely now its broken it should be easy enough to remove..being that the care factor has now been lessened due to it already being broken??

Perhaps OP is trying to remove a replacement glass from a donor car.

Ive removed a few or them using diamond wire and handles to suit (glass removal equipment). Is not particularly expensive to buy. Is tricky and slow to remove though.

Re: Rear quarter glass / window removal and repair
Thanks guys. I will be looking to buy a donor spare from somewhere but want to get the old broken one out with as little pain as possible.
My plan at the moment:
- remove all broken glass
- remove interior trim panel
- use some sort of Stanley blade to cut all around the edge on the inside of where the glass was
- start pulling apart and then start scraping and cleaning
- glue in a replacement unit
I'm hoping that this will work but am expecting that it will still be tough to get out and clean up.

It's not too hard just time consuming, it's more worrying about your paint with the wire that's nerve racking

It's always a good idea to cover parts of the paint with masking tape and then if necessary duct tape on top of the masking tape for added protection

Yepremove all broken glass
Yep- remove interior trim panel
Wont work. Glue is too thick (2cm wide in places) and there are 3 plastic plugs that push through holes in the metal in amongst the glue. A stanley knife will not cut these. There are also several corners under there, and the blade of the stanley knife will not cope with that.- use some sort of Stanley blade to cut all around the edge on the inside of where the glass was
The rubber/plastic surround is quite tough. Your knife will have trouble with this as well- start pulling apart and then start scraping and cleaning
This is quite easy once the old one has been removed.- glue in a replacement unit
You need something like this...

And as per comments above, watch the paint. Oh and if you have to remove the replacement yourself, watch the rubber when removing. It is very easy to damage it with the wire.
