Knocking tapping noise at idle

So sometimes when I'm waiting at the lights, usually when the car is warmed up, I get a knocking or irregular thud from the engine bay that I can feel thru the pedals. Does it with the clutch out, putting it in (far as I can tell) doesn't make a difference.
Isn't noticeable when actually moving
