RPMs fluctuate while cold

Having an odd issue.. RPMs fluctuate while accelerating if the engine is cold only.
It doesn't happen at idle, either. If I have the pedal steady ~1/4 down it'll surge up and down ~1k revs.

Once the car is warm, it's perfectly steady.

Any insight? TPS?

Figured I'd throw an update to this..


I recently went on holidays, and came back to a dead battery..
Wouldn't hold charge after that, so a new one went in.

Weird surging while cold is now gone, and the car is much more responsive overall... Gears shifting smoother, more power.
Very odd, but welcome. The old battery was.. ... old.
